catching an early flight

Posted 27-Jun-2015
Pros: Loved the service and the food was good too
Cons: The low lighting gave off a gloomy sort of vibe. I was surprised the room was like that too. More outlets in the bathroom.
Location: Convenient location for the airport
I thought the hotel was a little on the gloomy side with the dimmed lighting. I was surprised when I entered the room to find that it was for a handicapped person. I didn't care for the set up of the bathroom but it was only for 1 night. I also noticed that there are no outlets for a hair dryer in the bathroom. Women generally use a mirror to see what they are doing when styling their hair. I had to crawl under the desk to reach the outlet so I could use the desk mirror.

Great hotel outside of Edinburgh

Posted 26-Jun-2015
Stayed a week here and the staff was extremely nice. Spent a lot of time a the bar and Ryan was the best. Lewis the restaurant manger was very nice and did whatever needed to please us. Too many too mentioned but overall the staff here went above my expectations. When I come back to Scotland I most definitely will be staying here.

Nice hotel.

Posted 14-Jun-2015
Pros: Room and facilities in nice condition. Excellent shower.
Location: There is a Tesco right next to the hotel, which is convenient. However, not much else. It is not downtown or convenient to major attractions.
I booked this hotel for my last night in Edinburgh in order to make the morning airport trip easier. Turned out however not to have a free airport shuttle to the airport, which is what I had expected. Room and facilities in nice condition. Excellent shower.

Used to be in love.....but the love affair has end

Posted 08-Jun-2015
Pros: I still love the cocktails and the look of reception.
Cons: Reception responses
Location: Frankie & Benny's and South Queensferry
I have stayed at this hotel 3 times now - its is our go to place for some sanctuary....but this time I have to say that I have fallen out of love with this hotel. The bed was the worst bed I have ever tried to sleep in....can only compare this to a slab of concrete. On leaving the hotel (from the 4th floor), went to the lifts to find one out of order, the second lift never came - eventually found the stairs which took us to the 1st floor and we couldn't get down to the ground floor due to crates blocking the stair. When we managed to get to reception, I told the chap on the desk that the lift wasn't coming to the 4th floor...he looked like I had interrupted something much more important and he told me that he knew already......would have been nice for the guests to know. No apology for the hunt around the hotel to try and find away down stairs.

Nice hotel close to the city

Posted 08-Jun-2015
Pros: We liked the luxurious feel of the hotel.
Cons: We would have loved to swim. Having a pool would make it an unbeatable hotel in the area.
Location: The hotel is right by the forth bridge. We took a ferry about a mile away from the hotel that went to inchcolm island which was a lot of fun.
We spent the weekend at Dakota. The hotel is modern and luxurious. You get a lot for your money at this hotel. The staff are very helpful and courteous. We enjoyed the hotel, restaurant and bar very much. We got to bring our dog which was great. It is in a great location right by the forth bridge. We drove a short way to catch the tram into the city. We would definitely come back.

Great hotel for airport

Posted 07-Jun-2015
Pros: Cool atmosphere, very helpful staff, beautiful rooms.
Location: Kind of far from anything to really do except a grocery store and a couple of restaurants.
Free shuttle Monday-Friday to airport. Very cool modern decor. Rooms large and comfortable. Just realize that this hotel is NOT in Edinburgh - it is in a suburb about a 20 min train ride plus a 15 min walk/short cab ride from Edinburgh Waverly. If you want a nice, clean, comfy place to stay with free airport transportation and handy large grocery right next door, it is the place for you! THey were super accomadating and even let me back in my room after I had checked out and found out my flight was delayed until late morning.

Excellent stay

Posted 31-May-2015
Pros: Room facilities, quiet.
Cons: The dark interior took a bit of getting used to and we didn't see the point of the large, and heavy, cushion on the bed.
Location: Visited Hopetoun House - very impressive. The bridges, old and new very interesting.
Enjoyed our stay at Dakota. Room facilities very good and bed very comfortable. Although the hotel was full it was quiet and the meal we had there was very good. All staff very pleasant indeed.

Hotel with a luxury feel!

Posted 19-May-2015
The hotel staff were excellent and helpful. Whilst I would say its not a hotel aimed at families rather more for couples, they did have highchairs in the restaurant and made up a small bed for our yr old son and offered us an early booking for dinner. The room was lovely and had a large comfy bed. Would definitely go back.
