Central Location and Good Value

Posted 13-Aug-2014
Pros: location, amenities, staff, value
We only spent two nights in Edinburgh, but were glad we chose this place. The rooms are actually small apartments, complete with a separate kitchenette and lounge area. There is even free laundry facilities on-site. The hotel is centrally located, so we found it easy to walk to all attractions.

Not cozy but great location

Be sure you have a debit/credit card even if you book with paypal, we had a big headache trying to sort this when we arrived! The manager is great and half of the staff are nice but there are a couple bad eggs. As for the apartments, you dont get the food stock they claim, just milk tea and coffee selections and some beer/wine which you can purchase at check out. The location is fantastic and the shower pressure will clean you right up! However, there are no such blue rainbow premium mattresses as they claim, the mattress may as well be a boxspring! Couches are similar. Kitchen cooking area is great, blackout curtains do the job. Everything was clean and lots of space. The walls feel very empty which isnt nice in a creepy 200 year old building...

Great room but the creaky floorboards were annoying especially in the middle of the night.

Great Rooms for the price!

Posted 04-Jul-2014
Pros: Strategically located near the Prince's street with nice environment
Cons: Wifi was for limited number of users.
Our rooms had a fantastic view of the lake and the gardens. The rooms were immacalute and the apartment was fully furnished with all the necessities.

Good location but bland

Posted 23-Jun-2014
Pros: The room was quiet and the location excellent. There is wifi but not in the ground floor room.
Cons: The hot water temperature the wifi and digital TV signal.
Location: Try the Square cafe for coffee and breakfast,it's just across the road. Also Urban angel cafe in Charlotte st, pricey but good fare.
The room was a garden view room which was on the ground floor at the back of the hotel. Which meant no windows could be left open at night and curtains kept drawn until showered and dressed. Although the room (apartment) was spacious you could not relax as there was one sofa which was very uncomfortable. The literature in the room said it would be stocked with lots of stuff, it wasn't. Also reception was supposed to have a range of toiletries, I asked for toothpaste, there wasn't any. Through the door near reception leading to the lift was an unpleasant smell, which was there for the two days we were. The hot water in the shower was not hot enough, this was at various times of day so not just at popular times.

Good for the price

Let's get this straight first: Edinburgh is expensive. This hotel is an apartment within walking distance of old town and most sites for a decent price. It had planty of space and you could cook if you wanted. Now the bad news. The shower went from hot to ice every 20 sec, and all the windows were open when we got there so the place was freezing. Also for those coming from out of country it was difficult to figure out. You have to put your key card in a slot to use the switches and you have to adjust the heaters through a cabinet in the kitchen. It was confusing and freezing cold.
