“December Break 2011”
This a great hotel, lovely food, very friendly staff and only a short bus ride from Edinburgh. Room was excellent, overall a very nice place to stay. Will be returning as soon as possible.
“Convenient if you're taking a quick stop”
Nice hotel but location is convenient if you're in a rush to get out of the city and want something near the hotel. Good for a quick necessary stop. Breakfast is excellent!
“Long wait for Taxi and expensive to city centre.”
Location not good if like me we planned to go out for the evening into the city centre. We waited ages and ages for a taxi and then cost us like £13 to get us to the main drinking/eating area. So if you are planning a weekend break choose a hotel a little closer to the city centre. If you are just passing through then this hotel is good. The only thing I had a problem with was that when booking through this site I had an option of smoking and none smoking rooms. However when I arrived at the hotel it was all none smoking. Therefore double check with hotel before booking as the internet details are not always correct. Room clean, shower room clean, staff helpful but isolated for me..
“Helpful and friendly staff”
I found my stay at the Best Western Capital Hotel very enjoyable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This was my first time in Scotland. We used the local bus system to get around and the staff was more than happy to inform us which buses to take to get around the city. The hotel was clean. The sound proofing between the rooms was great, you couldn't hear the people in the next room at all. I would stay at this hotel again. The only down fall was that when you took the bus to Princes Street it was a 30 min. or so bus ride. The hotel is only about 5 miles from town.
“Very nice hotel in a good location”
I would recommend this hotel for anyone staying in the area. It was very clean and all of the staff were so friendly and helpful. The bus rout into town in only a 2-3 minute walk around the corner and made it very easy to get to and from the heart of town. The restaurant had great food for a good price also. Everything was excellent. Great place!
“Met our requirements”
Hotel was OK, restaurant a bit on the pricey side. Room was comfortable, attached spa was very well equipped but we didn't use it, should have brought a swim suit. Hotel must be popular, it was full for the 3 days we were there. The large number of guests did put a strain on the breakfast buffet as they ran out of items frequently. But their morning coffee was excellent with a fine multi-function cappucino maker. 5 minute walk to a local pub (probably not recommended based on the lads hanging about outside), but also close to a Co-op store for snacks etc. If you are coming to visit Edinburgh attractions it is a 20 minute drive or a 30 minute bus ride to the Castle.
“Quick overnight stay”
We stayed here overnight as we had a very early flight the next morning. The service was quick and they automatically offered a wake up call and pre-arranged a taxi for us in the morning. It's not quite as close to the airport as I thought, but it was a quick trip over - less than 15 minutes. I would recommend this hotel to other travellers. The room was clean, the bed comfy, and the employees very friendly.
“very nice place.”
Perfect location to reach both town center and airport. Yet very quiet.
“Not as convenient to airport as I would have liked.”
Hotel was clean and adequate for a one night stay prior to a flight.
“Great Hotel but lots of stairs...”
When you try to find your room you end up walking around these weird staircases (it did get easier once we found the elevator), but still had to go by a couple of stairs on our way to the room. Room is comfortable and clean with coffee maker, bath tub a bit high to get into to take shower. I could see an older person having problems there, I'm not and thought it was too high. Nice pub/bar in hotel.
