“More than I imadgined!”
I chose the Hotel purly from online reviews and as this was my first trip to Edinburgh, I don't think I could have picked a better location. Having said this there was confusion upon our arrival as someone else had taken our room, the only room left and was in there. The staff were confused but handled the matter in a professional manner. I was offered other accomodation but we stood our ground and produced our proof of booking. The other party had chanced it and with no proof of booking were turned out else where. The room was amazing, it made the trip even more fun and as for the service, food, bar and location; we were more than impressed. You must remember the Hotel revolves around the Bar and Reception is at the Bar!
“Excellent”
Pleasant Staff, Central location. Would definitely recommend.
“A Great Hotel”
The hotel was excellent, excellent location in Edinburgh and the staff couldn't have been more helpful.
“First visit to Scotland”
Great location, the room had lots of character (Thomas Telford room - there was a bridge construction over the beds - honestly!!). As it was central there was a fair amount of road/reveller noise outside. Breakfast was plentiful and attractively served. Would definitely stay there again if I went to Edinburgh again.
“Scottish charm in Edinburgh”
Although I was in crutches and there is no elevator, this was the ideal hotel for a short stay in Edinburgh. The hotel staff were charming and very helpful. They guided us to the main sites in the city. The location right on the Royal Mile means you have ready access to the castle as well as such places as the Writers' Museum. The room was spacious and astoundingly quiet despite being above a popular pub. The hotel is also an easy walk from the train station -- again, even being on crutches I found the distance not a big deal.
“Loved it!”
Excellent location right on the Royal Mile. Close to everything! Just a two blocks walk from Waverly Station (last stop on the airport bus route). Comfortable room with a king size bed and great view. Very good breakfast, but service was a bit slow. Nice pub downstairs, perfect for mingling with other tourists and locals. Just one block from a tour company who offers several wonderful tours of Scotland. I felt right at home, and would highly recommend to others. However, appeals mostly to younger travelers due to many stairs (34 minimum) to access hotel rooms and some pub noise. Loved it and would definitely stay there again!!
“Great location”
Perfect location for all Edinburgh has to offer! Cheap drinks in the pub downstairs too!
“Best Little Hotel in Edinburgh”
It is a small hotel, but it is perfect. Sitting near the castle end of the Royal Mile, it is a nice walk to all of the major activities in the city. Our room was cozy and comfortable. The pub downstairs was not at all too loud while we were there and the staff at the bar/reception was very quick to offer help. Only negative is lack of lift, but no huge deal if you are reasonably fit.
“loads of character”
love this place - the rooms are very distinctive and imaginatively decorated. Service is very friendly and efficient. Location just perfect. Great value as well for Edinburgh
“Definitely Choose the Bank Again”
Very comfortable and spacious rooms. Daily breakfast was excellant. Only drawback was that there was no lift only stairs. Pub on first floor was excellant.
