Good location.

Posted 20-May-2015
Pros: The location, cleanliness, pleasant staff and the breakfast.
Location: A short walk to all the local sights. The hop on/hop off City bus tour was very good. The Botanical Gardens and Britannia Tour are excellent.
We had a 3 night stay at this hotel and would highly recommend a stay here. The location is a 10 minute walk from the centre of the City and a tram stop from the airport, so nice and quiet yet easy to get everywhere. The building is a lovely old town house with wonderful features. The rooms are furnished well and we had a view of the Castle. I did find the room a bit dark, but the bathroom is very well lit. High ceilings and large sash windows give a spacious feel. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful and the breakfast is wonderful. We would definitely stay here again.

Lovely hotel in a nice area

Posted 15-May-2015
Pros: I had a top floor room with view of Edinburgh Castle - beautiful! Delicious full English breakfast.
Cons: The shower could use updating.
Location: Right by New Town, quick walk to restaurants and shopping. Short walk to tram and bus.
This is a lovely hotel to stay at. It is located in a quieter part of the neighborhood but still close to the fun. The area is definitely a bit more upscale. As such, there are plenty of business travelers, but there are many tourists too. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They even offered to get me a taxi when I was on my way out which was nice and reminded me of NY hotel services. I lucked out with a room on the top floor with a view of Edinburgh Castle - it was explained to me that it was one of their few single occupancy double rooms. It has an elevator so I did not have to drag my suitcase up 4 floors which was nice. The bed was super comfortable. The room is larger than some of my other rooms on the trip. It was clean and neat as well. The shower could be a little better - there was no place in the shower stall to put my bar of soap so I had to leave it in the wrapper on the floor which wasn't ideal. Breakfast was deliciously cooked, the breakfast staff was very friendly as well. It is a b&b in that you have a bed and they serve you breakfast, but it is definitely more hotel than the standard b&b. The building looked lovely and so did the surrounding buildings. The location made for a nice walk to city center. It could be a little far for travelers dragging tons of luggage around or simply don't want to walk a few blocks to the bus or tram. This was probably why they offered to get hire me a taxi. I had a great stay and would definitely stay again.

One of my favourite stays

Posted 12-May-2015
Location: Charming new town. about 6 pounds to get a taxi to old town/royal mile. A few minutes walk to food and shops.
The location is wonderful, and a close walk to food. But, what's more important, is the staff are amazing! They are so friendly and willing to help. We got to be on the top floor with the BEST view. It was my parents 40th anniversary and the staff new that, so I think they made sure we got their favourite room. Also, best breakfast I had anywhere I stayed on our trip. Fresh food made to order, a large dining room, and an amazing selection of goods while you wait for your food (including tiny jars of jam for your toast).

Hotel au calme, bien placé

Posted 02-May-2015
Pros: La vue de la chambre
Cons: Le petit dejeuner

Nice stay

Posted 22-Apr-2015
Location: Get your walking boots on as there is plenty to do and see. Public transport as much as you could wish for.
Easy enough to find, location just about right. Staff pleasant and very helpful. Breakfast was adequate for our needs, very enjoyable. We found this B & B very peaceful. Room was adequate for our needs, just a few niggles! We booked a petite room with a queen bed and located on the top, 4th floor, to the back with stunning views. Shower room was very small and would be nice for more shelving and hanging facilities. We would stay here again, with the view to booking a larger room and slightly bigger bed, as the one we slept in was not a queen!

nice stay in Edinburgh

Posted 21-Apr-2015
Pros: Staff, breakfast, library.
I appreciated the staff friendliness and helpfulness in recommending a restaurant and helping track down my missing suitcase. Interesting nicely restored older building with a comfortable library. Location convenient to rail, bus & tram.
