“Perfect stay......twice!”
We have now stayed in this hotel twice, once 7 years ago and once last wknd, and the quality etc hasnt changed a bit, its perfect! i would highly reccomend, the staff and service is spot on, the rooms are lush, the whole hotel is lush in fact, the bed is very comfortable, the showers are huge and spotlessly clean, and with being situated right at the foot of Edinburgh Castle, what more could you ask for, stunning views, wonderful atmosphere and its right in the middle of the Grassmarket and which is the ideal spot to be, a few nice bars, restaurants and cafes right on the door step (but surprisingly its still quiet inside the hotel, and the rest of the more vibrant night life is a 5-10 minute walk away! perfect perfect perfect! the only thing i would say about the hotel is take your own bottled water for the room, as if you get room service water for the room it costs alot! highly reccomend!
“Great location and service”
Right in the heart of downtown. 5 minute walk (uphill) to the Royal Mile. Super nice to walk the Royal Mile then come back to the hotel to relax and then head out again. Only downside is Basic room did not include a fridge or safe.
“Great Location”
We were in Edinburgh for a long weekend to go to the Tattoo. The location of this hotel is really good - 5 minutes from the Castle and the Royal Mile, with lots of restaurants and pubs within easy walking distance. The room we had on our first night on the 1st floor was small and cramped, although the bathroom was a reasonable size with bath and separate shower. I was kept awake until the early hours with lots of people congregating almost immediately ouside our room (we were very close to the stairs/lifts). We mentioned this at reception next morning and apparently there was a venue for the Fringe Festival on the 1st floor! The receptionist was very helpful and moved us to another room on the 3rd floor. There is no air conditioning in the hotel and, although the weather was not hot whilst we were there, the room was unbearably hot and the fan that was provided was ineffective. It was a larger room and was clean and comfortable. When checking out we mentioned how hot our room had been . The receptionist told us they were aware of this problem, (apparently the 3rd floor was the worst) and were taking steps to do something about it. I would class this hotel as an average 3 star, there were none of the little touches of luxury you would expect from a 4 star hotel.
“A well located comfortable hotel with friendly service”
The hotel is very well located with great views of the Edinburgh castle, walking distance to The Royal Mile and lots of eating options around. The room was a little small but comfortable. The shower was excellent! The lady at check-in was extremely helpful, providing a lot of relevant and useful information about the hotel and the city. Would definitely stay here again if visiting Edinburgh.
“Great hotel!”
Very satisfied. Great location! Very helpful and friendly staff!
“Apex City Edinburgh - a good thing”
I don't have time, so this is short. My wife and I were very pleased with the staff. The on-site restaurant was good too. It could use more, but that's all the time I have.

Great Location, great hotel!
“Great Hotel in Grassmarket”
We chose this place due to its location near our daughter's apartment. However, it turned out to be the best place we stayed in the UK, after 4 weeks of traveling. It is close to pubs, restaurants, the castle, the Royal Mile and Princes Street. Plan on steep hikes to all of those places, which can't be avoided in Edinburgh. Good eats on Princes Street, go for Indian.
“Excelent option to stay on Edinburgh”
It´s excelent to stay close to Edinburgh Castle and excelent ubication
“Great location”
This hotel is smack bang in the middle of the city in the Grassmarket area, so it's perfect for bars and eating places. There's also some quirky little shops around too. The castle is very close by and can be seen from the room we had at the front of the hotel (very romantic). The only downside was the noise from outside, but hey, you can't have it both ways. In any case, ear plugs are provided!
