A comfortable and convenient hotel

Posted 25-Mar-2015
Pros: The location, décor, staff and parking
Cons: Breakfast see above
Location: Walking nearby and close to shops theatres and the sea
The hotel had free off road parking which was a boon in the area. It was close to the sea and central Eastbourne but very quiet and no problem sleeping. The room and bathroom was well appointed and newly refurbished. A very comfortable bed. The only disappointment was aspects of the breakfast in that the fruit salad was out of a tin, they ran out of milk and orange juice but topped up when it was pointed out and there was not much of a selection of breads/ croissants etc but the cooked part was good.

Three days by the beach

Posted 02-Feb-2015
Pros: They serve a very good full English breakfast, and everyone was pleasant and accommodating. They let you do your own thing and never got in the way.
Cons: room heater didn't work. The bathroom one did, but not the main room. Didn't complain though but I am sure they would have fixed it.
Location: The pier was under construction but open. Chippy's on the pier/ best fish and chips in East Bourne. Drank and ate at the Buccaneer. walked a lot.
After being in London for four days, I wanted a quiet seaside town to relax in. I found East Bourne on the internet and after all my friends knew nothing about it, I thought it would be great. I am sure in the summer months it is roaring, but now in January, it was relatively quiet. It was exactly what I was looking for, but quite boring. I found the Sheldon on the internet at a very reasonable price and booked it. I wasn't expecting much, and it exceeded my expectations. The room was very spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was quite nice and had hot water whenever I needed it. The owners where pleasant, although I never really spoke with them. They kind of stayed out of the way but there if you needed something, like a charger adapter. The town says "the sunny place in England", and I would have to say that at least the days I was there, it was sunny and relatively warm, reaching about 50 degrees every day.

Overall poor.

We was unhappy with this Hotel for many reason. The first thing you see when you walk in the room is the carpet was dirty and stained. We paid for a double bed but had two single pushes together. We couldn't open a windon which had that been stated in the hotel write up which most hotel do say if windows can't be opened. we wouldn't off booked at this hotel. The man who check us wasn't the most welcoming! At breakfast we was asked ' why do you want' we had no menu didn't know what they did. No choose. It was like they want to feed us get us out fast. Work needs doing in the room. Overall not a great stay!

Dishonest and rude management....!

Posted 23-Jan-2015 on Hotels.com
Never seen that in any hotel! The manageress decided unilaterally to charge me an extra £30 as she said our suite was not suitable for a child and apparently insurance had to be paid for him? What on earth is that????? Even on their website it said extra GUESTS would be £7.50 a night?????? But nowhere is it mentioned that kids are charged extra. She downgraded us to the cheaper family room on top of that. Bad attitude and confrontational, even accusing us of bullying her when we simply asked about that extra charge? Sorry but I am the victim here. That spoilt our break as we ended up paying incredible ransom money - way more than what it is on the official website! BAD BAD BAD! Oh and my sister in law who is slim could not even fit in her single room let alone the shower! Bottom line: look elsewhere first! And Judith, if you are reading this, hope you change your attitude as this is the hospitality business and people expect H_O_S_P_I_T_A_L_I_T_Y....

New years stay

Posted 06-Jan-2015 on Hotels.com
We booked this hotel very last minute and were pleasantly surprised at how good value for money it was. It's been well kept and the room was fine for an overnight stay. Sadly we did not get to try breakfast as it finished by 9.30 and as with most NYE's it was a late night. Be aware you will need to vacate your room at checkout time.
