Great Location

Posted 21-Jul-2014
Only stayed one night, but found staff really helpful and polite. Had a room at the back and it smelled of the fish & chip shop opposite. The fried breakfast wasn't too good, been kept on a hot plate too long so it was chewy, dry and rubbery. The bar was nice and welcoming, again great staff. Location is excellent.

Overnight Stop

Although a little dated the hotel was very clean and friendly ,both reception and waitress service were excellent and breakfast was good with a great deal of choice ,While rooms at the front of the hotel are of the sea the rear rooms just overlook other buildings.

Seafront hotel with great charm and atmosphere. Staff are helpful and obliging which made the experience for us. A little quiet for this time of year but that's a seasonal town I guess. Will be returning later this year.

Very comfortable

Posted 19-Nov-2013
Pros: The courtesy and helpfulness of the staff.
Cons: The tv in the room was small, but as we didn't have time to watch it, that wasn't a problem.
Location: Right on the sea front, several restaurants literally around the corner in Carlisle Road, and less than 5 minutes walk from the conference centre.
We stayed at the hotel while attending a conference at the Devonshire Centre. The hotel was easy to find, parking was straightforward (on-street pay and display but permits available from the hotel reception for £1 a day), the staff were courteous and helpful, the room was clean and spacious, breakfast was delicious and the location was ideal.

Great Weekend

Posted 07-Sep-2013
Location: Close to beach, pier, town centre and theaters.
I made a late booking on Wed night for Thursday to Sunday based on the positve reviews. On checking in I found that we had been allocated a sea view room. This was not mentioned on the booking form and was a great supprise for my wife. We were on thwe top floor in room 29 and had fantasic views. The hotel appears to have been recentley refurbished and is bright and clean. The breakfast was nicely cooked and served quickly. The staff were very polite and helpfull. Will use againg if we are back inb Eastbourne

Has the personal touch

Very genuine, friendly and helpful welcome, useful local info on where to eat out that evening. Great location on the sea front. Parked just outside the entrance for £1/day with the permit from reception (free after 6pm on the day of arrival). Chilled white wine in champagne flutes brought to our room soon after arrival – gratis – the owner had picked up on the fact it was my wife's birthday! A lovely gesture much appreciated. Good breakfast in the morning (included in the price), again with friendly staff.

Disappointing......

Posted 22-Oct-2012 on Hotels.com
Having worked in the hotel trade for many years I have to say that I am a little unsure how this hotel gets a 3*. First impressions were pretty good and the location was excellent. However the room was poor to say the least and the bathroom was of a very low standard and due to their being no natural ventilation was damp and smelt awful. I was pretty surprised that the place was half full but we were stuck in a pokey room with no view whatsoever. The breakfast - well what can I say!! The bacon was over cooked and the rest was pretty poor quality. All in all if you want a hotel in Eastbourne I would say do a little research and you can do better. I was in a rush to find a place a just pretty much grabbed the first on I came across but will be a little more careful in future!!
