Pleasant Stay

Posted 10-Sep-2014
Pros: Comfort and cleanliness and staff were incredibly helpful.
Cons: Breakfast organisation
Location: Was there for a specific event but location is spectacular.
Everything was first class except breakfast in the morning which was disorganised. We were show to a table, went to the buffet. Arrived back to see another breakfast on the table which was followed shortly by an argumentative woman who claimed it was her table.

Beautiful old building needing TLC

Posted 02-Sep-2014
Pros: Location, architecture and history.
Cons: More attention to detail; threadbare carpets and furniture, cobwebs and dust clearly visible around windows/shutters etc in public areas.
Location: Ideal location, everything accessible on foot. Great choice of restaurants, shops etc. Kemptown very nice, Palace is ostentatious to say the least!
Lovely building in great seafront location but very tired and in need of some attention. Some staff very helpful, others somewhat indifferent to your needs. Not enough staff in the evening, one person serving drinks led to unacceptable waiting times. Very average meal in the flagship fish restaurant. Room at back of hotel very warm, constant noise from ducting and unable to open the window more than a few centimetres due to security locks. I am an adult and would like the choice of opening the window. Room generally clean but very dusty/cobwebs adjacent to the radiator. Brass in lifts has not been cleaned properly for sometime, it should be pristine every day not covered in fingerprints, marks etc. Not good enough for 4 star hotel. Parking quite expensive and not included in price.

A grand time at the Grand.

Posted 01-Sep-2014
Pros: The decor it is great like stepping back in time in a good way. Our room was very nice lots of space which made up for the fact we did not have a view
Cons: Service at reception not very friendly compared to other staff.
Location: Very central, on the front, easy access to the Lanes and other attractions.
We had a nice overnight stay, just what the doctor ordered. Great venue lots of weddings taking place and other events so very busy in the foyer. We liked our room, lots of space, quiet and relaxing.

OVERPRICED FOR A SUBAR ROOM!

Posted 01-Sep-2014
First, don't bother seeing Brighton. It had bachelor and bachelorette parties, it's run down and nothing with seeing. Second, although the lobby of the Grand is nice, the rooms are deplorable. The furniture was old and chipped. There was NO AC!!! Yes, that's right - no AC. They gave me a portable "AC", which is a machine you load ice into and a fan blows over the ice. Then the shower didn't work. I feel completely ripped off, and I will be complianing. I paid $425 for a subpar room. In the states, the room would fetch $100. It had to be the WORST experience I ever had, and I travel a lot. I am still angry I paid so much. Oh, and I had a view of an air shaft.

worth every penny

Posted 31-Aug-2014
Pros: staircase, rooms, staff
Cons: none
Location: near cinema, beach, local shops.
We booked this hotel as we wanted a special treat as we have had a difficult year. This hotel was amazing and so impressive. But the best part is the staff, they fall over backwards to make your stay pleasurable. The reception staff are superb as well as the concierge team. My room was amazing, spotlessly clean with an enormous comfy bed with pillows you sink into. The bathroom was spacioulys decadent and had lashings of hot water. The hotel has an enormous staircase which is a dream to even walk down. Breakfast was very good, a selection of bread, , pastries, cereals, and cooked food. Fresh juices, coffee, and water. would I go again? in a heartbeat, one of the best hotels ever!

Luxuary Wonderful stay at the Grand

Posted 31-Aug-2014
Pros: The grandness of the hotel loby.
Cons: The windows in our room steamed up as they did not open so some form of ventilation in this room would have made it more comfortable.
Location: Situated on the sea frond and a short walk to the famous lanes . Lots of restaurants.
My wife and i had a luxurious stay at the Grand in a standard double room.

Beautiful hotel. Great location.

Posted 29-Aug-2014
My boyfriend and I stayed in the Grand for 2 days for his birthday. It's a beautiful hotel. Our room was really nice although it didn't face the beach. Probably the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. The staff were really helpful if we needed anything. Our breakfast was included in the rate which we couldn't fault. So much to choose from and very tasty. Can't wait to stay here again.

Nice hotel close to beach

Posted 27-Aug-2014
Pros: The size of the room and the view.
Cons: Housekeeping training.
Location: Near beach and town. All entertainment easily accessible. Nice beachfront walks.
The hotel 'tired' in places. The waiting time for a lift was too long. Big wedding going on over the weekend and the guests took over the hotel lobby when Im sure there were facilities available which they could have used apart from the lobby and hotel bar. Wedding drummers woke us up on Sunday morning accompanied by whistles and shouts! Our room was not serviced one day until 4pm and after I had rung reception about it. Lack of bathrobes and coffee and tea making facilities varied from day to day. Breakfasts were good with plenty of choice although on 2 mornings we were shown to tables which still had the cleaning equipment on them and were not laid. Parts of the hotel needed cleaning to bring it to the standard expected e.g. the lift doors We asked for balcony chairs and were sent 2 white plastic chairs! we had seen nice deck chairs on the balconies of the lower floors which could be seen from the street!

Good Hotel

Posted 24-Aug-2014
Pros: On the sea front. Outstanding breakfast. Great staff.
Cons: Room was small and dated with 4 steps up to the bathroom. Paid £14.45 for 2 pints of beer and a G&T which I consider expensive.
Good hotel, well run. Staff very good providing excellent service
