“No sea view, in fact no window”
I was after a cheap hotel near the front so cannot really complain, as it was cheap and near the front. I did not expect a sea view for the money, but a window would have been nice. The room was in the basement, with peeling wallpaper, damp floor and requiring a good memory to find your way out again.
“Nice Hotel, shame about the room”
having booked a double room at this hotel for three nights (with breakfast) it all started well when we arrived, to a lovely regency hotel by the Palace pier, and then we got to our room: The double bed was two singles pushed together, not even secured together, with mattresses at slightly different heights, and two not quite single duvets The accessible bathroom that I had requested had a handrail on the right of the toilet which was far to distant to be usable, and did not include accessible bathing facilities (just a sit on the edge of the jaccuzzi bath and try to swing your legs in to use the overhead shower kind of deal) but did come with broken glas s on the floor. The room itself had a nice big window, which did not open to the balcony. This window really could have done with cleaning, maybe this "oversight" was to try and stop us seeing the discarded cigarette buts and tea bags on said balcony. After night one we tried the cooked breakfast which we found hadn't been kept heated once it had reached the serving surface. we didn't eat breakfast there again.
“Good location, excellent views, cheap & cheerful hotel”
We've stayed here 3 or 4 times. Its basic, as reflected by the 3 stars but a superior room gives you a fantastic sea view for a reasonable price. The location is great too. Its single-glazed so you get the traffic noise but this eases at night. Breakfast is a pain, at least when we stayed at the weekends - its always busy and there are a shortage of tables. There was no coffee when we went as the waiters hadn't refilled it so we went back to our room and had the instant sachets.
“Great value and location”
Very good value hotel. In a great location, right beside Brighton pier. The hotel is a nice old victorian building, but the decor is a bit tired and dated. Our room was clean and tidy. All things considered I would definitely recommend the Royal Albion though!
“beautiful view - average hotel”
stayed in this hotel for one night. The room was spaceus and clean (only bathroom floor was a bit grubby) but decor was quite dated and in a couple of place the walls were dirty. We had a great seafront view. The mattress could do with replacing as you could feel the sprungs but apart from that slept okay. Room came with full English breakfast which again was average. In my opinion too expensive for what you get.
“If you don't want to sleep, this is the hotel for you!!!!!!”
I have stopped at this hotel on a number of occasions and have thought although it's not the best hotel in the world it's good value for money. This visit I was totally disappointed!!!!! We were shoved in the basement in a room with no windows and natural daylight. One of the function rooms located in the basement was hired out and we couldn't go to bed till after 1a.m. as that's when the disco finished. A TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“i will go back,for sure”
i had a good holiday, and would stop at the royal albion again. i had a great time.every one was so kind and thoughtfull.....
“Amust for all Staycations!”
After reading reviews of the Royal Albion i was rather sceptical. All the negativity made me want to instantly get a refund! However, the whole of my "staycation " was wonderful. The building itself is so reagal and beautiful, location is fantastic (Oposite the pier) and the service was very high. My fiance and I were very fortunate as we stayed in one of the newly renevated rooms. Unfortuynatly the smell of fresh paint near suffocated me at first. I dont eat bacon (or chips) for breakfast so all there really was to eat first thing was egg, beans, plum toms and toast/ croissants! Not too bad really but i do think mushrooms should have also been on the buffet cart. The lounge area is very spacious and the bar area of the hotel has modern feel. What else??? the windows should have been washed as seagul plop really puts a downer of the beautiful seaviews from my room. Outside noise is noticable at first but soon fades once you get used to it but you do have to remember your on the main road in in a hot tourist destination. More pastries on offer at breakfast would have been greatly appreciated but the overall hotel gives that 'olde time' feel. We would deffo go back again. 8/10
“Just look for a different hotel now”
The only notices in the hotel were there to deflect liability in law suits as far as I could see. There was a wakeup service, along with a large note saying that the hotel couldn't be held responsible if the call didn't arrive on time. I asked for a wake up call twice, and it didn't arrive either time. Each time I complained, the response was "did you realise the hotel can't be responsible for failure to deliver wakeup calls"? One person then said sorry. Neither of them suggested that they would look into it. The room had a couple of broken tiles, two non functioning remotes for the TV, and a very large warning in the bathroom warning that wet floors were slippery and dangerous, and could cause accidents - once again, the guest had been warned. There was a much smaller notice saying that bathmats could be requested from reception . . . The toiler roll holder was missing. Clean towels had just been thrown on the bed. The line for breakfast one morning was over 15 minutes long. I spoke to the manager before I left. He was polite, but didn't make a note about anything I said (i.e., wasn't planning to do anything about it). He was more concerned about apologising for his own appearance. Apparently, he was the night manager, and had been asked to stay on and cover the day shift as well. Good points? Well, the shower worked well, although it took 5 minutes to stop running when you turned it off. Thank goodness Expedia limits this to 1500 characters.
