“NOT IMPRESSED”

When we arrived at the hotel we were shown the smallest room i have ever seen. We complained about the room having paid the upgrade amount before arrival. We then got given a ok sized room. The room was unbearable with the heat the toilet didn't flush completely and the room had a musty smell about it. the tea and coffee making facilities were not what you would have expected for a 4 star hotel, The tea bags were the really cheap and horrible tasting. The breakfast was horrid to say the least. the sausages were full of grissel and everything was luke warm. You would think that a hotel with 4 stars would make breakfast to order and serve your table as there were enough staff to deal with it but no it was served buffet style. The scrambled eggs were discusting and you could have played fisbie with it on the beach. All in all it was a horrible hotel and will definately not be returning.

“Surrey Couple”

We read some reviews of this hotel prior to setting off for a long weekend in Brighton. Some had had better experiences than others. In our case, the room was great, overlooking a small garden, very quiet and enough space for the 2 of us (incl wardrobe space etc). We like the fact that there is a bit of walking involved to get in to Brighton or Hove, so the positioning of the hotel was perfect for our needs in that respect too. It's not in Hove by the way (like someone had put in their comments). We didn't use the hotel restaurant or the "Spa facilities", so can't comment on these. we are definitely going back at some point - we had a lovely time!

“Could do better....”

Not sure I would give this hotel 4 stars. Although there seems to have been some refurbishment it still looks old, worn and dark. The room were OK but the lighting terrible (not good when getting ready to go out) and the shower a major disappointment. Would help if more water went into the bath area that over the shower door and onto the loo and floor! The dinning area and breakfast were lovely though as was the spa and the treatments we had.

“Not Impressed”

The hotel was not a 4 Star!! well not in my opinion. The staff where very friendly and helpful. The hotel room was cold, no heating on. The shower was not very good and needed a really good clean. We used the Spa which was great....

“Nice hotel.”

This hotel is located further down the "beach strip" than the others, so be prepared to walk further to the Pier, shops, etc. The hotel is nice and quiet, but we were there when the weather was rather windy... and the windows kept banging around all night in the wind. We had to jam a knife into the window sill to stop the constant banging. They told us at checkin that breakfast was included, but it turns out, upon checking out, that it wasn't. So we weren't very happy about that. The rooms are nice and clean, the bathrooms lovely. Some rooms are smaller than others. Brighton was lovely, despite the wicked winds during our visit!

“Lovely friendly hotel, would def stay again”

THe hotel was very nice and there staff were friendly. There was a leak in our bathroom and they arrange for us to be moved straight away into a nicer larger room which was a nice touch to the stay. The only think that i wasn't to happy with was that there was no meal or price list for anything in the room so we didn't know how much spa treatments were or how much Breakfast was so we were quite shocked when we went down and had breakfast only to find out afterwards that it was £30. Overall the stay was very nice and i would definatly stay there again.

“Average”

An average, basic experience. The sink was blocked and the plumbing bad, so that when the water reached the over-flow, the water flooded the bathroom floor. Poor satellite TV reception. No fridge. The hotel advertises itself as being in Brighton, but it is actually in Hove, with quite a walk to Brighton centre.

“Lots of problems”

Reception staff were clearly stressed when we arrived and weren't too cheerful. Another guest was making a complaint about light bulbs. Our room, though quite pleasantly furnished, had not been hoovered and there was rubbish in the bin from previous guests. Not even soap was provided in the bathroom and the window couldn't be closed. The room felt a bit chilly. When we went to complain we overheard a guest being told that the boiler had broken, but that the hotel was attempting to fix it. We returned to the hotel at the end of the night to a cold room, asked what the situation was and were advised by the manager that as the heating wouldn't be working we could have the room at half price, or move to the nearby Hilton at no extra cost. After some wrangling, he agreed to pay the taxi fare for this, and we got out of there as fast as we could. The boiler problem could perhaps, as an exceptional circumstance, be forgiven, but the fact that we were given no information about it until we asked, combined with the poor standard of upkeep in the room, means that I definitely won't be revisiting this hotel.

“Not a New Year to remember”

On the face of things the hotel appears very nice, however, our room, 101, was something to be avoided - tiles falling off the wall in the bathroom and an astonishing noise coming from the toilet whenever you flushed it and even when you ran a tap. The carpet in the hall way looked like it had not been cleaned for a long time. And then there was the boiler - it broke on New Years Eve and as we had the party booked at the venue we had little choice but to stay the night although they did move us the following day. Generally speaking this could be a fantastic hotel but there are so many little things that spoil the whole experiance to mention in this space. A big disapointment as my experiance with Park Inn has been so good in the past.

Area recommendations
Brighton is such a fantastic place to visit. Not just because of the great views over the sea and the joys of the pier. Brighton has the wounderful Lanes shopping area which has so many independant shops and restaurants to explore. Although I would always recomend the small family run restaurants I have to mention Days Chinese all you can eat buffet - a fantastic bargin and an amazing array of dishes from sushi, bbq grill and all the regulars. Brightons only real down side is that the parking is expensive if you are staying for anything longer than a couple of hours although you can park off street further away from the seafront but then you are no where near anything.
