Really friendly hotel. Generally older clientele while we were there but none the worse for that. Very good breakfast and comfy beds.

Nice relaxing hotel near the sea

Posted 11-Aug-2014
Pros: They view, location, staff, quality
Location: Short walk from the sea front and Eastbourne town centre. Close to Beachy Head. Great base for exploring the Sussex coastline.
This was my second stay at this hotel. Room was really comfortable and within the grounds there is a heated outdoor pool, croquette lawn. Comfortable lounge, plenty of street parking.

wonderful hotel location

Posted 03-Aug-2014
It is a lovely old-style hotel with gracious and comfortable space in the public areas. With its private grounds and lovely view of the whole sea-front, it is the perfect place to stay, being located in maybe the best section of the hotel strip. Add in the Free Parking, and being a reasonable walking distance to the centre of town, it is the ideal place to stay.

Really helpful

Posted 25-May-2014 on Hotels.com
My wife & I stayed only one night for our Anniversary. A few days before our arrival I phoned through & spoke to Rosie in Dining and told her that on the evening of our arrival we were going to the local Theatre so we would be back too late for dinner. She arranged sandwiches (which were delicious) & wine for us in the Conservatory. All of the staff were very pleasant. We would stay again

What a pleasant surprise!

Because of the three star rating I didn't expect much, so was very pleasantly surprised by the stately feel of the hotel, the wonderful service, the friendly atmosphere, and the spectacular breakfast. I'll definitely put this on my favourites list! Book with confidence.

worth a visit

Posted 22-Jul-2013
Pros: was very comfortable
Cons: bit far from town centre
Location: slightley out of town
From the moment we arrived at the hotel we found it very welcoming, the room was comfortable and the breakfast was really good as were the staff, the only issue we would have is the fact that we ate in the Crystal restaurant on the first evening and even though the food was superb we did find that the £3.00 supplement for the scollop starter was not justified as there was not a lot of it.

Lovely elegant hotel

Posted 29-Jan-2013
Pros: Breakfast
Cons: Nothing
Location: Great location close to seafront. Views of the sea from some rooms. Not that close to the town centre but it's a lovely walk along the seafront.
Lovely elegant hotel. Our room was very nicely furnished and comfortable. The bathroom was a bit "tired" but perfectly clean. Breakfast was excellent.

If you need to relax this is the hotel for you

Posted 26-Jul-2012
Pros: The soothing atmosphere combined with a friendly, superb staff offering a service rarely seen these days and the beautifully presented and tasty food.
Cons: The out of use shower at the pool.
Location: It took 15 mins slow walking to be in the theatre area of Eastbourne. Lovely cliff walks a few minutes walk away, easy walk to bandstand and pier.
This hotel is in a lovely position and offers a most relaxing stay. The staff are charming and very helpful. Service in the restaurant is of a very high standard as is the food, presentation is superb and unusual belnding of flavours adds to the pleasure of eating there. Everything is very clean and comfortable and whilst we were there the entertainment was a really fantastic performance by a harpist in a very pleasant lounge one evening, she was very talented and very friendly offering a varied programme played exquisitely and with a humouros chat that greatly informed us about harps. The sun lounge is a lovely light place to sit and have a coffee or snack and overlooks a lovely garden with a croquet and small putting course. Reception staff and porters were all very helpful and equally charming. We had a really relaxing stay and made the most of the heated outdoor swimming pool. A very quiet, relaxing stay with old fashioned standards of service much appreciated.
