“Not Impressed”
The price was reasonable and the hotel has a very good location. However, the bed was not very clean. If anyone talks in the next room or in the hallway, you can hear it which is really annoying.
“Royal hotel Hull”
Typical well maintained "station hotel" past it's grand days but clean comfortable convenient for station and taxis
“Royal Hull Hotel”
Confusion when I requested to stay another 2 nights. Initially advised I could stay in same room and charge would be a liitle less than first two nights, but asked to re-register the following morning. On re-registering advised I had to change rooms, and charge would be £10 more than quoted previous evening. That evening after a hot sweaty day, no hot water to shower. Phone didn't work to report this to reception. Dressed and attended reception desk. So at near midnight changed rooms again. No cold water in basin of this room but too tired to bring it to their attention. Next day negotiated room charge back to original offer. With the exception of one person on reception the staff were friendly and helpful.
“The Royal Hotel Hull”
The Royal hotel is conveniently located within the railway station in the centre of Hull. Location is ideal for travel to KC stadium (20mins walk) and city centre shops (<5mins). Easy check-in and check-out with free parking on-site.
“Great for a couple of nights in Hull city center”
Had to ask for extra towel for double room but service was quick and staff very helpful. Double rooms are quite compact. Air conditioning doesn't seem to work so could be uncomfortable in summer months. Several good restaurants close by and lots of good breakfast places within a couple of minutes walk. Very handy for the rail station. Lounge area great for meeting people and having a quiet evening drink.
“convenient, charming, not expensive”
+ves: Our stay at the budget priced Royal Hotel in Hull was very nice for the very clean rooms and the very helpful and friendly staff. The back door of the hotel opens out into the train station and main bus depot in Hull and is in the city centre, so very convenient for walking to museums, shopping and restaurants, as well as being close to the waterfront. Wireless internet is included (need a new password every day). The room was small but cozy, a TV with free 6 viewable stations, coffee maker w fixins, but it was pleasant enough. -ves: It was hot and muggy while we were there and the A/C did not work, but we had the window opened wide, it wasn't too bad. Staying on the front of the hotel (away from the train / bus station ) you'd think would be the smart way to go to for noise, but the locals like to congregate after the clubs let out to yell and fight and sing for hours, then the police and ambulances show. It's entertaining, but don't expect to get any sleep! Only one set of towels, we had to ask for a second set. Oddly, no washcloths. The shower temperature couldn't be controlled, it was the bath tap set hot/cold not diverting properly to the shower, just about got scalded! They moved us to a nearby room. We were able to shower with that one, but it was the same issue. Likely management got a deal on 80 defective tap sets and the maintenance guy and desk clerk got stuck having to deal with unhappy guests. But staff was great, they tried to make our stay pleasant.
“Not at all impressed”
We stayed at the royal for three nights and were less then impressed. The room was in needed repair (shower head wouldn't stay in place, toilet needed to be flushed repeatedly, etc). All little things in themselves, but they needed to be repaired. There was no air conditioning and the hotel had no fans available. The worst part was having two wedding reception taking place on a Sunday afternoon til 1am. Even though we were on the back side of the hotel from the reception, it was still very noisy.
“Royal Mercure Hotel te Kingston upon Hull”
Mooi oud gebouw, met prachtige zeer grote lobby. Goede ligging.
“well located, nice hotel, good value”
I stayed in this hotel two nights. Did not try the restaurant or bar, as there are many alternatives within walking distance. It was good value for money and the staff was very courteous and responsive. The rooms have poor sound isolation to you can hear everything that happens in the adjacent rooms. My second room did not have any neighbours but was located exactly above a grand salon where a birthday party took place until midnight. The location is excellent next to the train station, a big Tesco, restaurants, and shopping complexes. However Hull is a small place so most hotels are close to this one. The bed was comfortable. The room was renewed (flat screen tv) and reasonably clean. For short stays this hotel is good value. The building is historical and has some interesting features like high ceilings.
