Charming traditional hotel
Traditional hotel full of character with high ceilings & period furniture. Room spacious with great shower however decor needing refreshed. Excellent breakfast with wide choice of hot & cold options. Good location as only a minute from a tram stop so easy access to railway station & a pleasant 20 minute walk to old city.

Character period peoperty let down by service.
A beautiful period property situated on the outskirts a few tram stops away from the centre. Staff effecient but little more. Room was found clean but massively let down by the lack of housekeeping. Towels never changed or even picked up off the floor. Consumables like water and tea-bags not replenished. Plug missing from hand-basin. Requested one from reception but nithing happened. Breakfast was varied and adequate but ran out if late and not replenished. Will we go back again? Not sure!

Lovely hotel (just not good for a summer day)
The hotel is charming with its classic style. Even though it's an old building, it's well-preserved. Just the bathrooms, in my opinion, need some renovation. The bed was not very comfortable. It was a super warm day with no AC, just a small ventilator. There's no elevator, but ok. The breakfast was delicious with lots of options. The location is very good, close to the city center.

Real charm
This was a real”charm”. I could not believe I will stay in such a fairytale place with a lot of history and charm. Great hospitality and attention from staff, convenient location, safe surroundings and much more. The room is clean and nicely decorated with all amenities inside. Wonderful breakfast was a great plus! Many thanks to all hotel staff, will definitely come back!

Not a Fpur-Star Hotel
This could be a nice hotel with a little effort. It needs significant repairs, both cosmetic and functional. The staff, especially Nada, are quite helpful but the services available don’t warrant a 4-star rating and the description posted on hotels.com is misleading. My friends moved out of their room a night early due to the poor condition of their shower: mold, clogged plumbing etc. We had noise from the pipes all night and sewer gas smell most is the night. However, the breakfast was very good, it’s clean, and the furnishings were nice.

Beautiful but loud building
Very nice place to arrive to and is in a good location. Building is beautiful and old, but this naturally makes it pretty loud, you hear footsteps above etc. Room itself was nice but bathroom could do with a refurb.

I stayed in a friend in the hotel. The room was huge and with beautiful classic design. The bathroom was also big with good shower. The breakfast was tasty and the workers were very very nice. It is 5 minutes wolkig from the city center. I'm very happy with the value for money

Great location Fruendy and helpful staff. Shame for not having parking space for me. They should have let me know as if i knew i would have booked elsewhere. I had to park in the city centre at a secure car park

Didn’t know what to expect but were pleasantly surprised. opposite.shabby Chiquita but in places a bit too shabby. Our Roman bath was interesting but plumbing much to be desired. Good for the tram system Would stay again

Nice and different
They were all super friendly, let me drop of my car early. The hotel is different from all those modern formulaic stays and you had a sense of it being a home to a rich merchant. Close to the centre and breakfast was good. Finally, they posted me back an item I left in the room with no fuss. Nice people.

Great potential but .....
Hotel is in old mansion/house. Room needs decorating and a lot of tlc. Curtains did not pull together properly, not fixed to rail correctly, windows single glazed let in noise from street, bathroom very tatty part glazed shower with curtain as i assume glazing had broken in past, strong unpleasant drain smell. Bed very uncomfortable with soft mattress. Safe did not work, reported this and nothing done. Electricity went off several times. We stayed 3 nights and on two of the nights electricity off at 1.00 am when a bright light came on in the room. No hot water on last morning. Asked to pay when we arrived and eventually got a small refund due to disturbed sleep, had to wait each time for someone to come and put a cloth over the light. Breakfast was good. Staff also very nice. Could be a lovely hotel but not worth what we paid.

Charming hotel with a nice breakfast in an attractive, authentic building. However, the wooden stairs and floors mean you can hear other guests moving around their rooms and up and down the stairs

Lovely stay in Gent.
Really enjoyed our stay, the hotel is in a beautiful building with large windows and high ceilings. There was a nice sophistication about the hotel interior that added to the experience. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of variety, hot and cold. Hotel is about a twenty minute walk from the city centre and thirty minutes from the train station. Would certainly stay here again.

Extremely run down does not look like the pictures on the website. Damp on the walls. We stayed in room 2B the lamp was broken the walls were dirty, the sink was chipped and my partner woke up with bites from what ever insect was in the room.

Lovely hotel, small and quiet. Breakfast was good value for 15 euros. The floor boards creaked a lot from other guests but it was no big deal. The hotel has lots of character and charm hence the name

The main entrance is very nice, but might be just that. The hotel is very old with a sense of low maintenance and refurbishment. Rooms are spacious but noisy when you walk through the wood old floors.

The pictures do not tell the true story. Truthfully things are a bit shabbier than illustrated. Our room was large which was great but the beds weren’t that comfortable and the pillows were horrible. Breakfast was good but on our second day it wasn’t even ready until after 9 o’clock with no explanation or apology. Location near the tram stop was a real plus

Delightful ‘period’ property which has retained its character reflecting its history as the house of a local businessman. It has wooden floors, brown furniture and is sparsely decorated but the rooms are spacious and very clean and comfortable. The breakfast is good quality and value for money and the staff are very friendly and attentive without being fussy. The property is about 10 mins walk from the historic centre but close to the tram/bus routes. I would stay here again without hesitation.

Slightly quirky - the hotel is converted merchant's house and so the layout is not the standard hotel fare. A 10 minute walk into Ghent town centre - so well placed for visiting the museums and restaurants etc. The hotel has some secure parking - but you need to contact them directly to book a space. Good breakfasts. Easy to find by car and easy to get to and from

Good hotel
Lovely old building, if you want modern then this not for you. Our room was lovely, clean and comfortable. The only complaint was that when we arrived there was no tea or coffee in room, which there should have been. On our way out we asked reception for some for when we got back, which there wasn’t!! We asked 3 times but to no avail. We ended up just taking from breakfast room. The hotel is about 15minute walk to town centre or tram is just outside hotel. The sauna was not working which we were disappointed with. All in all it was a great stay and would recommend hotel.

A decent place to stay if you are young and fit.
The Hotel is in a very old building where they haven't made any changes to the original and it shows in the condition of the building. It is located in a quiet residential neighborhood and is about a 15 minute walk to the old town at a decent pace. It is only two or three stops by Tram from te main touristy area so it is better to walk. The staff, especially Anthony and Nelle were very nice and helpful. without their help I would have had a very hard time getting up to my room on the third floor as there is no elevator( which they have disclosed in the property description). The breakfast buffet is adequate.

Nice hotel, nice breakfast
The hotel is beautiful, and the breakfast was nice and accommodating with soy milk/yogurt available as well. However was very disappointed to find out on our second day there that they don’t accept American Express and we were expected to pay with a different card... we booked through expedia with Amex AND completed the check in process at the hotel with my American Express and nobody said anything until the following day while we were having breakfast. Otherwise a lovely stay, but that was very disappointing.

Great little hotel with lots of character
Excellent location, lovely hotel. Only reason marked down at all is that it was very hot and there was no air conditioning so had uncomfortable nights sleep.
