The lady at the hotel were very friendly and very accommodating. They actually went over and beyond to help me and my friend staying there. Giving us all the information we needed help us during our stay with them. They are also some residents there as well which were lovely to talk to and also helped us out a great deal too. Thank you to you all at Parkview Hotel.
I needed to be close to the Expo centre and the cricket ground so this was fairly close. The hotel was fine but the issues were: 1. There was not a proper door to the bathroom, just a curtain (the actual toilet had a door but not the rest of the bathroom).
2. There was no fridge or microwave in the room.
3. I walked around with barefeet for a bit in the room after showering and my partner advised my feet were very dirty afterwards (i.e. the cleanliness of the floor).
4. We could hear noise from other people in the hotel from outside our door.
The positive was that the bed was nice and big and comfortable and the linen was nice and clean. I wouldn't avoid the hotel as it was not bad.
Roseland house is a very charming B&B in a quiet neighborhood in Durban. The room was spacious, with a real Victorian character... Beautiful mahogany furnishings. The owners were lovely and very friendly. Breakfast was a delicious made to order egg dish wiry fresh fruit and other sides. For dinner, there are a number if restaurants just down the road. Note that if you're looking for modern, 21st century accommodations, this probably isn't the place for you. But if you want a place with a bit more character and a very friendly staff, I'd highly recommend Roseland House.
Hilton 5 Star Hotel... Everything you would expect....easy check in check out... Needs a more reasonably priced wine list in the bars and restaurant ... By South African Standards. Need to offer free parking to residents.. Or at least a one off daily charge...
Upstairs rooms were clean and comfortably furnished, the shower in our room was small and a large person would have difficulty with this. Breakfast was superb each morning, with a variety of choices from the buffet menu - wish that they would have offered bacon as a choice, as the spicey options are not everyone's choice. The gardens all well laid out and breakfast on the covered verandah is a comfortable pleasure.
The owners have certainly spent considerable time and effort in making you feel comfortable. I would suggest that the web site show map co-ordinates as most people now have a SatNav. At the moment Google Earth shows the hotel on the wrong side of the road and 50m short of the actual address.
All in all, this is a hotel that I would come to again and would recommend to my friends.
