Stayed two nights in the rooms and had a wonderful experience. Room was great, food was really good. Overall fantastic value for money too. Staff were brilliant and friendly, couldnt do enough for us. We will definitely be staying again next time we're in Scotland
We booked Strathblane country house hotel as we were visiting Scotland for the Commonwealth Games 2014. We arrived late in the afternoon due to attending an event before hand. When we arrived we were welcomed by lovely staff who attended to our every need. There were cleaning products outside our room which were removed straight away once we had reported them and the room was comfortable and pleasant. The surroundings of the hotel were stunningly beautiful. Breakfast was of outstanding quality and the variety on offer was superb. We also stayed at the hotel for one evening meal during our 3 day stay and was blown away with the quality of the food, a complete highlight of our trip. The staff were extemely pleasant and very helpful to us whilst in Scotland, they were very informative on places to see and go and local public transport that we could use. The only downside to our stay at Strathblane country hotel was a clash with an event they were hosting (i believe it may have been a birthday celebration or a wedding reception) music was very loud till late of a night and other guests were extremely loud throughout the evening and early hours in the morning, running up and down corridors and banging doors, staff did not address this to our knowledge and this interrupted our final nights sleep before our long drive back to the West Midlands.
Its fine for somewhere to stay and for buisness ok but if your looking for something a bit special I would suggest somewhere else. There is nothing wrong with the hotel but just a bit like going back in time
We stayed Wed / Thu and we're advised of the noise level on Friday and Saturday so changed our plan for the final night of our stay. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms are a good size and have recently been renovated so we're very clean and fresh. The breakfast was homely and set us up for the day. Reception Housekeeping and Breakfast Service all VERY HELPFUL.
This rural area, on the north bank of the River Clyde, was once the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Strathclyde. Visitors are drawn to historical sites such as Dumbarton castle, where William Wallace was once imprisoned. The castle sits on Dumbarton Rock, a popular rock-climbing spot. Cruises can be taken from Balloch to explore Loch Lomond, and Glasgow City Centre is 45 minutes away by train.
