Cracking little hotel in Dusseldorf

Posted 12-Apr-2014
I have stayed in a few plain and overpriced hotels in Dusseldorf but the Derag is a smart, good value hotel with cracking single room I stayed in and a cosy bar and a decent breakfast

Good location

Posted 09-Apr-2014
Pros: A nice little bar that was open till 2.00 a.m.
Nice hotel with friendly staff- a bit noisy from the trams going past early morning if you are at the front of hotel. 20 minutes walk to old quarter- with some really nice eating places.

Dear guest, wow, four stars - what a fantastic review. I am sure, next time we will get the last fifth star. Happy to see you again - maybe in one of our rooms to the back? Kind regards, Magnus Schwartze Ast. General Manager

Great price for a really nice hotel

Posted 26-Feb-2014
Pros: Really comfortable beds, nice bathroom. Much nicer than expected. In fact, it's just plain nice.
Location: About 20-30 minutes to walk to the Old Town, but there's a tram right outside. Cab fare is only about 6 euros if you choose to take a taxi.
Really nice new hotel (2012) at a great price. Restaurant and bar on-site. Helpful staff. Free minibar.

Excellent hotel

Stayed here with a group of mates - used hotel as a base for going to watch football. Excellent transport links close by, easy to reach both the Old Town and the main train station. Lobby and communal areas were superb. Rooms spacious and clean - especially bathroom. Highly recommended.

good hotel

Posted 30-Dec-2013
Pros: Quiet area, functional hotel.
Cons: Did not appear to be any disabled access to the foyer
Location: Quiet area, tram stop outside the hotel, two stops to the centre
This hotel is a good clean hotel, rooms have a small kitchenette housed in what looks like a cupboard from the outside, it has microwave, two cooking rings, a separate sink and a fridge. this was useful for making tea and coffee and heating our breakfast porridge up. We did not use the hot plates but it was perfectly adequate should the need arise. The staff were helpful, and the room was clean. The only issue we had was when returning one day the room had not been serviced, we were then asked by housekeeping if they could attend to the room. we went to the foyer and it took an hour and another request to the front desk complete the task. It was resolved.

Pros: Comfort and price
Cons: Breakfast could have been cheaper
Location: Near to the old town, only 15 min walk.
I can not imagine finding a hotel with a more high end feel at a most affordable price in such a good location. It is only a 15min walk from the old town or you can get the tram from very close to the hotel. The rooms are very comfortable. We were lucky to get a corner room, which has a nice view with the windows all the way around the room. Dusseldorf is a great city of a manageable size. We enjoyed the Christmas markets. We particularly liked the food and local Alt Bier. Our favourite place was the pub Zum Uerige in the old town, worth a visit to the traditional pub where the hours will disappear.

Next to the tram terminus

Posted 09-Dec-2013
Pros: Efficiency & price
Cons: It would be nice to have a bath as well as the shower.
Location: Try the Pegasus Greek diner alongside the hotel
Having a few free days my wife and I took our first trip to Dusseldorf and picked upon a reasonably priced hotel. Very convenient for trams and buses with some excellent local bars, restaurants and the familiar German Bakers. The staff were highly efficient and we had no problems with anything during our stay. An unusual feature was a mini-kitchen complete with cooker, fridge and microwave plus a sink for washing up the included plates & cutlery. Good value for money and a good gateway to the city.

The rooms were clean. It's not a luxurious hotel. The breakfast is not worth getting. I don't know how it got 4 stars. I would say that it is more a 3 star hotel.
