Great hotel in the middle of Dusseldorf

Posted 26-Oct-2014
Pros: Friendly staff and central location.
Cons: Drainage in the shower. Maybe that's a bit picky but true.
Location: Very central for shops as well as the old town
Smart modern hotel in a great location for both the newer and older parts of town. On several main tram lines plus a 5 minute walk from Dusseldorf Bilk station so very easy to get to from the airport by train which takes about 20 minutes. Although we walked to most places as the hotel is so central and nothing was more than a 20 minute walk away. Friendly staff who always said hello, from reception staff to the chamber maids. Room modern and clean plus a large bathroom with walk in shower. All in all we couldn't really fault it and would certainly go back, as well as look at other sister Derag hotels in other German cities.

Nice hotel in Dusseldorf.

Posted 26-Oct-2014
Pros: Clean, great staff, good price, quiet
Cons: More milk sachets to make tea!
Location: Good supermarket, good bakery kiosk etc. Other good bakeries nearby. Large carpark by church cost 9 euro from about 6.00pm until 8.00am next morning.
Had a 4th floor room facing rear. Very quiet, room clean and nicely furnished. The 2 free bottles of beer each day were very welcome! My contact with the staff was A1, nice girls on the reception desk were always helpful. The decor in the hotel is nice and new, I did not have breakfast in the hotel, but having read other reviews it is supposed to be excellent. The only tiny gripe was the plug in the bathroom sink would not move while depressing the lever, as the bathroom is cleaned every day by a maid, you would expect them to report these matters to the maintenance department. Another point brought up by another reviewer that they thought was cool was the fact that it required your room key card to operate the lift. They thought this was great security, but they obviously didnt use the stairs which had full access through the hotel without a keycard. I work in the security business and am not put off by this, The rooms are fitted with really strong doors and high security locks, so security is not an issue. I walked every morning to the kiosks on the other side of the Church to the lovely bakery and sampled different pastries which were simply stunning. Baking cakes is one of the many things Germans are good at. The supermarket on the other side of the road to the kiosks has every thing you would ever need including really cheap beer. Another kiosk had lovely smelling coffee and seems to do food, but I did not eat there.

Walk or take tram to city centre

Posted 11-Aug-2014 on Hotels.com
It doesn't take long to walk to the city centre. Alternatively frequent trams stop about 200 metres away and tickets can be bought fom a machine at the stop for both single trips or for a day. This is a smaller hotel, has lifts, is air conditioned and property is well maintained.

Perfect for a weekend away

Posted 02-Jul-2014
Pros: Really nice bathroom and shower
Cons: Cheaper Breakfast
Location: Not far from local bars, was able to watch world cup football no problem, and felt safe in the town.
Wasn't too far away from the local town and bars, and the facilities were perfect for a short weekend away.

So-So - Grump and Slow Service

Posted 27-May-2014 on Hotels.com
It's a nice hotel if you're on business, I was a solo traveller and it was fine for me but the service was grumpy and slow. My room was not serviced on one occasion and house keeping took away the soap I was using without replacing it with a new one. I also found toe nail clippings in the room at the foot of the bed in plain sight. Location was great to get to the old town but the surrounding area is dead, nothing going on, no cafes or restaurants. Bar was closed on Sat night and excuse given that the bartender was ill, which seemed to be a lie. I was also charged for an unconnected call and when I queried this, they were rude to me. I wouldn't recommend this place because there are far better ones out there with better service. I think they may have given me a bad service because I wasn't a business man and felt they shouldn't make an effort or maybe it's generally awful for all travellers. The night manager was the only professional and polite person there!

Great for German Hotel

Posted 27-Apr-2014
Pros: Great location and very new infrastructure and very clean.
Cons: Larger begs
Location: short walk to old town.
The hotel check in is after 3 pm and the entire process was very efficient and fast. The walking distance to old town from the hotel takes about 10 – 13 min and you also have a tram station right in front of the hotel. I am rating this hotel based on German prices and standards and not in the global context. The hotel is very new, clean, well run but the room was very small and my bed was very small and compact (refer to images uploaded). The staff were courteous, efficient, professional, but lack the warmth you find in Asia or the States. I was satisfied with the wifi in the room and and great to see RT as alternate cable news. You get charged EU 15 per day for using the parking garage in the basement. Be warned, the parking garage is very compact and very tedious to get in and get out with very tight parking spots. They also have a small bar next to the check in counter that seems to be open only on the weekends. The cleaning staff do a good job at cleaning your room and every time I return the room was spotless. The check out was very easy and again very efficient. Great location and great prices during the specials..
