Amazing location but service lacking

Posted 14-Sep-2014
The hotel is perfectly located in the old town and the staff friendly enough. The room was lovely but lacks a view. The inclusive breakfast and roof terrace a definite highlight but on the whole the hotel lacked the personalized service a hotel of that size (and at that cost) warrants. For example, we arrived to our room being set up with twin beds, there was no offer to help with bags etc. Some forethought and a more enthusiastic welcome by the reception staff would have entirely changed our experience.

Comfortable hotel within the old city walls

Posted 08-Sep-2014
Pros: The roof top terrace, staff and comfortable bed.
Cons: The shower gel should have been topped up without us having to ask, and the bar lacked Grand Marnier. Otherwise hard to fault.
Location: Walk the city walls, which give great views in all directions. Take the cable car to the fortress above the town. Boat trips. Stroll the streets.
Nice roof-top restaurant for breakfast and dinner, quality food and service and very helpful and friendly staff. No lift, but the staff took the luggage up for us.

Heart of the Old Town

Perfect location for being able to explore the walled city before the coach hoards arrive. Only hotel in the Old Town to have a rooftop terrace with magnificent views of the city.

Small but special

Posted 14-Jul-2014
Pros: In the old city yet newly renovated and modern. The rooftop terrace is fantastic.
Cons: Bigger rooms.
The Stari Grad is in Dubrovnik's old city, just a few yards off of the main street on a quiet side alley. It was surprisingly quiet and calm considering the crowds mulling about the old city. It is small, having only 8 rooms, in a charming old building that was renovated last year. Our room, although small, was well designed and comfortable with a modern bathroom. Breakfast and dinner on the rooftop terrace were magical, looking out over the city. The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Note that there is no elevator, so the hotel would only be suitable for those who are comfortable going up and down stairs.

Pros: Very high standard of bathroom etc. Quiet room and in city centre!
It is hard to fault the hotel. Especially nice was breakfast on the roof (5th floor) overlooking the city.

Lovely hotel in great location

Posted 08-Jun-2014
Pros: Location, friendly staff, roof terrace.
This hotel is lovely and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. It might be a bit pricey but if you are happy to pay for a nice central hotel and want to be in the old town would highly recommend. An older review I read said the hotel did not have a lift and they had to carry bags up lots of stairs. The hotel staff carried my bags without me asking - and to be honest if you can't cope with a few stairs, Dubrovnik is not the place for you. The roof garden has amazing views to enjoy at breakfast time. Dubrovnik is beautiful.

Superb location

Just inside old city walls. Check nearby car parks for day rate otherwise you might end up paying over the odds by the hour. Very comfortable and clean but no stairs hence luggage has to be hauled up. Lovely terrace but no other facilities such as restaurant or bar. No shortage of these as located just off the main street (Stradun) so everything in old city is just a few minutes walk.

A fantastic hotel in a great location, just inside the city walls. Very stylish and comfortable rooms and a lovely roof terrace where you can see all over the city. The only slight disappointment was a problem with the drains which meant that the room smelt a bit, though we reported this to management and they were going to sort it out. Very helpful, accommodating staff too - we'll definitely be returning!
