“Pretty Good Hotel”
This is a pretty good hotel. The staff was helpful and the room was clean and pretty good size. The public bus stops right in front of the hotel and is a 15 minute ride to the old town.
“Great location - but...”
Hard to beleive the place maintains "three stars". But the location on the beach is fabulous.
“Mixed feelings”
We picked the hotel after they advertised they have free parking. When we got into the hotel , there was no available parking and when we wanted assistance from one of the hotel staff - the man was very rude and not nice and did not help us at all and nearly kicked us our of the hotel. After parking in a place very distant from the hotel and speaking to the manager, they found a parking for us, but the whole experience was very not pleasant. Other than that - The private beach is very nice (although they charge extra for the chairs ...!) the room was ok and the management team and rest of the people were nice and service-oriented.
“Nice hotel but a little dated.”
Hotel is getting a bit dated. Have to carry bags down stairs to access reception and bed was very creaky. Staff were very nice and breakfast good. Lovely outlook and close to everything.
“Dubrovnik - loved it and cant wait to back”
Dubrovnik was amazing, loved every minute, just a fantastic place to chill. It was very hot ( mid July) , sunny everyday. Everywhere was very clean, the food was brilliant , no complaints at any restaurant or bistro/bar that we went to, always an abundance of fresh fish and seafood. It certainly isnt your full english, sky TV and tetley bitter sort of a place, ( which was great for us!!). The Hotel VIs was good, it was comparable with a decent travel lodge standard, clean, tidy and basic. Staff were always very friendly and helpful. Travelling around, we used the bus - particularily to go into the old city which was 15 mins away and it cost about £1, the bus picked you up right literally right outside the hotal Vis and buses ran every 20 mins. You could walk straight out of the back of the hotel on to the beach and stunning views of the bay - that was lovely, particularily having breakfast in the hotel looking out over that view. breakfast itself was the only disapointment, basic and limited but eatable. Would i stay there again?? yes i would - it was cheap and cheerful, clean and tidy. but who spends all their time in the hotel anyway?? bit sad if you do!! I would recommend dubronik to anyone - its a beautiful amazing place - just the place to chill out. cant wait to go back!!!!!! Definately recommend the island boat trips (full day) brill day out!!!! The bus trips to Mostar I wouldnt do again it was a very long coach trip (about 3 hours each way) for just 2 hours at Mostar.
“Excellent 3star hotel (remember not 4star)”
Just got back from a week at the Vis Hotel. I would definitely return. It is a 3* and not a 4* ,and the price we pay is accordingly. The staff did their best with their limited english, the lady at the reception extremely welcoming and with good english. The views are lovely and I enjoyed the beach (don't forget to take beach sandals as it is all pebbles) The breakfast was very good but I did not have dinner - the buffet display did not look inviting at all and there was nothing left by 8.30pm -shld be able to eat until 9pm. I ate in the old town well worth it (£ 12 for a main course-excellent fish & well prepared) . Sometimes had just the hearty soup at the hotel (£3). Bus to Dubrovnik just outside the hotel - evey 15min - tickets from reception approx £ 1 one war. I hope to be able to go back in Oct. Hotel is like home from home.O I forgot brand new bathrooms.
“Excellent”
The Hotel was in an ideal location on the edge of a beautiful Bay. Plenty of Restaurants and Cafe's nearby and a couple of good walks along the coastline. The room I stayed in was very modern and looked as if it had been refurbished recently - very comfortable indeed. Buffet Breakfast was very good with hot and cold dishes. Staff were very friendly - bus stop was outside straight into town. The Hotel would be my first choice if returning to this part of Croatia.
“Too bad....”
This was our first hotel in Croatia, and although some might have been lost in translation, we were shocked at how unhelpfull the staff was for the most part. Not having an elevator, we would have loved help with luggage, and the few questions we had were generally responded to with sarcasm or curt answers. Two individuals stood out as helpful - Perro and Luce (sp?) - but their kindness only reinforced the fact that everyone else didn't seem to care at all. A beautiful property, but I wouldn't go back simply because of service.
“Vis rocks - we miss it already!”
We have recently returned from a 5 night stay at Hotel Vis and had a fantastic time. The hotel was exactly what we needed and a good value 3 star. It is in a brilliant location right on the beach where the sea is really clear and very warm. It is only a ten minute bus ride from the old town which is really impressive and has lots of nice restaurants. Breakfast at Vis was fine and the kind you would expect in a hotel of this rating - hot food was available but it was predominantly cold meats, pastries, cereal and fruit. We liked to fill up at breakfast then snack during the day before our main meal in evening - breakfast here was more than adequate for this. It was also lovely to sit outside on the covered terrace to eat as the views over the bay are great. I would describe our time in Dubrovnik as a beach holiday during the day and really nice city break in the evening. Hotel Vis was clean, comfortable and if you are looking for a hotel to use as base for your time in Dubrovnik then I would thoroughly recommend it.
“Hotel Vis”
Decent Hotel. Lovely view from the room. Beach was beautiful. Only complaint I would have is the receptionist lost our key and it was adamant it was us and wanted to charge us. When I asked for them to review their CCTV it remarkably turned up again. No apology received
