“Very relaxing stay”
Kolocep is a small island about 30 minutes by ferry from Dubrovnik. The hotel sent someone to meet me from the ferry when it arrived and drove me and my luggage the short distance around the bay to the hotel. The setting is stunning - the hotel borders a private beach that is quiet and peaceful, overlooking the crystal blue waters of the Adriatic. The hotel staff are very warm and welcoming. The rooms are in line with what you'd expect for a good 3-star hotel, with the added benefit of free internet access in rooms and wireless access around the hotel complex itself. The restaurant and bar serve good quality Croatian food and the staff are helpful and attentive. It offers all you could ask for of a hotel of this price - good service, decent food and a beautiful, secluded Croatian setting with amazing views.
“Beware of the ferries”
The hotel is really nice it is arranged in 8 different blocks 3 stories high, you need to ensure you specify if you view or not, all the rooms either face front or back front you have a view the back you get a stone wall - your choice The breakfasts are an all you can eat buffet and dinner is either all you can eat bufffet or menu - both buffets are really good - plenty of choice
“Very Relaxing”
Before last year, I have never returned to the same country, let alone the same location.... We went to Hotel Kolecep in September 2010 for a five day stay, it was so relaxing and lovely, that for the first time ever... we returned there the following year, but for a weeks stay, in Sepetmber 2011. The island is quiet, without transport and very pituresque. The hotel/appartments are clean, tidy and well looked after. the staff are very accomodating and keen to make your stay pleasant. The buffet breakfast was full of choices with hot and cold foods and a good selection of teas. The only criticism is that the coffee is extremely poor. The evening buffet, priced about £13 for all you can eat had a wide selection and was well worth the money. There is an italian restaurant nearby which is very very cheap. The other local restaurant and bar was also reasonable (and served a variety of good coffee)! There is a boat that goes to 2 of the other islands, which we did travel to. I would most definately recommed this to friends and already have over the last year. I would also return here for a third time at some stage. This is a gorgeous place to visit, with very good accomodation and staff.... A DEFINATE RECOMMENDATION!
“A Wonderful Holiday”
Read all the reviews of this island and the hotel before we went, and they were all good, and we certainly agree with them. The rooms were clean and comfy. The showers were always hot. The food was excellent with a very varied choice of meat, fish, vegetables, salad and fruit. The breakfasts could be cooked or continental, with plenty of fruit, cereal and yoghurt. The rooms all had a balcony and internet connection and a good bed. there were a lot of steps up to our villa, but the view was worth it. Last, but not least, the hotel staff were all amazingly kind and courteous. We loved it and would go back definitely.
“Will return next year”
Arrived early at the hotel, but the receptionist was very helpful and made our room availablestraight away. The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was cleaned every day and the towels changed everyday. There was a lot choiceof cold or hot breakfas and dinner. The sandy beach is just outside the hotel. It was very relaxing holiday and can't wait to go back there again.
“Fantastic Place, great for the price”
Just returned from Hotel Kolocep and have to say we were very impressed with the price/quality ratio of the hotel. Rooms are clean, comfortable and the hotel is situated right next to the beach/port of this wonderful island. We stayed four days which I think is the perfect amount of time - the island is small but there are lots of walks, other beaches and more to explore. There are only five restaraunts, one of which is the hotel, and prices are much more reasonable than Dubrovnik. Highly recommended
“Perfect, relaxed and beautiful - wouldn't change a thing”
As described on-line, my hopes of arriving with my kids (boy 12 and girl 15) across an azure sea and having luggage taken away and sauntering by the beach along to the sole hotel, all came true - we had a week on this island, visiting local Elafiti neighbours in Lopud (noisy and tacky by comparison) and Sipan (atmospheric and worth it for those wanting sense of seclusion), as well as Dubrovnik for its history and liveliness and the 'hole in the wall' experience.... The hotel was perfect - everything was easy, working, not OTT or shabby. The staff are efficient and friendly. The food of the hotel is really good - elsewhere options are limited and not best value perhaps (Villa Rusa for a treat, lacks a little atmos?) - but we hope the island can continue to operate this scale of outlets (2 shops, PO, 3 bars in the main settlement - the other one has one bar). We visited the 'blue cave', enjoyed jumping into the sea from rocks, walking through pristine paths, no traffic - just healthy flora and pretty dwellings, nicely diverse tourists, no crowds. Only once I'd booked did I spot the online info about disputed ownership of the hotel going back to the communist history - I wanted to be sensitive to the ethics of this case, but in fact there was no evidence of problems to mar our holiday. Nor was much made of the apparent non-profit/intellectual retreat background to the business - so a little mystery and I'd be interested to know more or the story. But as a holiday?.... blissful.
“Even Better Than Expected”
Well what can I say, I looked at many many reviews on this website before booking this at the last minute and I am so glad that I did. I'm 23 and went with my mum, needing a break and we had a fantastic time. The photos on the hotels own website do not do it justice. It's a stunning, stunning place. The island the hotel is based on is beautiful and is not at all commercial, with a stunning view (expecially if like us you request a room with a sea view e.g. Room 814 or 813). The hotel rooms have over 100 films in the hotel rooms for you to watch and the tv also turns into a pc which is good for email etc. The Hotel is friendly and we found that there were a lot of nationalities at the hotel as well as English. It's a very family resort as well as for adults, very safe. The sea is warmer in August. The main beach outside the hotel is cleaned every day we noticed and is well kept. You find some small fish sometimes swimming round your feet in the bay when you swim. There's lots to do at the hotel, bike riding, tennis courts, tours round the island, kiaks etc, as we did. The sea is so clear so you can see the bottom no matter how deep you go out. Dubrovnik is a great to visit. Only downside to hotel is that there are only four ferries a day to dubrovnik with the last one returning at 8pm. But this wasn't a problem to us, especially as the hotel has put on extra boat services which you can use if you pay a bit more. Thoroughly recommend this hotel - not at all disappointing.
“excellent value hotel created a fantastic, relaxed atmosphere for our holiday”
Staff couldn't be nicer, they were friendly and always ready with advice on excursions and information about the island, when you asked. The room was modern, comfortable and clean. Everything worked properly, although the air conditioning was a little noisy. My partner was particularly pleased with the free internet access in the room and free wifi, even on the beach! We had a beautiful view of the bay. Overall, Villas Kolocep provides a fantastic holiday experience, we were happier here than in a rather more clinical and less relaxed 5* hotel in Dubrovnik City! The sandy beach is a luxury, due to Dubrovnik's rocky coast line, and not too busy. There are only 2 restuarants on this side of the island; one selling fish, steaks and pasta (opt for the fish), the other selling pizza. The other side of the island has a more upmarket fish restaurant - amazing food, if you can put up with the grumpy and unhelpful service! However, limited restaurant choice turned out to be a happy compromise for the peace and quiet.
“Peace and tranquility in a beautiful setting”
Kolocep Island and the hotel/villas lived up to expectation and all the positive comments already posted. The Island is quite unique and very beautiful. It is rare these days to find a place where it is so easy to relax completely. The proximity to Dubrovnik makes it easy to have a break from the slow pace of life on the Island, if you wisj. The city is very busy in peak season with cruise ship passengers, but a must see destination. The level of service at the hotel/villas is worth mentioning - from the reception staff to the young man who transported the luggage in the golf cart and the restaurant staff - nothing was too much trouble for them.
