“Not for the flash at heart”
The best thing about the Komodor is the staff who are knowledgeable, helpful, thoughtful and kind. Many of them were probably there when it first opened! The rooms and facilities are fine but comfortable rather than flash. The frequent and reliable No 4 bus into town stops right outside and reception sells cut price bus tickets.so there is no reason for ever using any of Dubrovnik's over-priced taxis. The sea is two minutes away by foot too.
“A very pleasant stay in a lovely area of Dubrovnik”
This hotel is not close to the ferry or the main part of new Dubrovnik. Nevertheless it was well worth the cab ride to be able to stay in such a lovely area and a nice hotel. My only problem with the stay was that we were not able to access the free WIFI in our room. It was necessary to sit in the lobby to do so. That aside the room was great as was the complimentary breakfast. The ocean view from our window at no additional cost was stunning! The name of the hotel at first put us off, conjuring up images of the old iron curtain days but the reality was nothing like that. maybe they should think about a name change!
“Good budget hotel”
Close to a bus stop to old town, near a nice beach, and low cost
“Lovely well run hotel”
Very nice hotel with friendly staff and a particulally good cleaner who worked everyday we were there. Breakfast was your typical continental with lots of hams and cheeses and and plenty of fruit and breads. the pool is small but well maintained and there is quite a large area to sit out and relax. There is a safe near the 24 hr reception and buses running outside the hotel from early morning to late night. Our stay in Dubrovnik was fantastic and the hotel added to the overall enjoyment of the holiday.
“good value 'homely' hotel”
Very pleasant experience. Outside of hotel in desperate need of a coat of paint/stone cleaning, but once inside it doesn't matter as its very welcoming and homely with carpets and marble floors/surfaces kept spotlessly clean. Very close to beaches, shops, bars and restaurants and on the main bus route into the old town. Well worth paying the bit extra for the sea view/balcony room which overlook the park accross the road also. Nice little pool with sun terrace. All staff very friendly and accomodating-nothing too much trouble. Breakfast a bit basic, but plenty of choice and room service meals are excellent. Would definately stay there again if returning to Dubrovnik. Recommend to anyone not looking for 'luxury', just comfort.
“Had a realy good time”
Hotel very clean, staff friendly. Good breakfast plenty of choice. Room comfortable, furnished well and enough space. Had balcony on side of hotel 2nd floor had view of lots of foliage and could just about see the sea. Good area for eating out and getting about, on number 4 bus route to Old Town which run quite frequently. Would recomend the Bistro towards the end of the walkway and Ivan to left of walkway for trips. Did boat trip to 3 Islands with fish picnic and coach trip into Bosnia and Montinegro coach driver Mario was a delight and very helpful but take euros if you do the coach trips. We were pleased we went on this holiday had a great time lovely people and beautiful contries. Good value.
“Hotel Komodor”
Hotel was a bit further out of the "centre" than I'd thought it was, but not really a problem as there's a bus service that goes passed every 20 mins. Hotel itself was nice enough, clean and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. No entertainment on an evening in the hotel, but there is a bar.
“Room description inadequate”
We booked a standard double park view online with Expedia only to find that we had a view of a wall above the kitchen with the associated extractor fan noise and cooking smells. We then asked for another room with a park view and were told "just because you booked a park view does not mean there is a view of a beautiful park". Surely this then is false advertising? The staff member told us this in perfect english with a sad sigh, so I imagine he has heard this complaint a few times before. We were then told that the hotel was full and the only other room available was a sea view for which we would have to pay extra. Reluctantly we did so (it was 10.30pm and we were tired and ready for bed). This room was nicer (and so it should be for the extra we paid) with a large bed and a balcony. The room was clean and the bed large, altho the bathroom was tiny. We generally found the staff to be not particularly friendly or helpful and the buffet breakfast left a lot to be desired. The location of the hotel was good, across from the beach, near the restaurants and cafes and close to a bus stop, but overall I would dissuade others from staying here, unless you book the sea view outright.
“Good Place”
The Komodor is part of a chain of hotels in Lapad, a 20 min bus ride from Dubrovnik Old Town. Amongst the group is the Splendid also 3 star.It was a good place to stay - good clean rooms, a nice (small) pool, good unpretentious breakfast & helpful staff. Nearby Lapad beach (across road)150m is pleasant with beach restaurants.
“nice hotel with nice price”
although the hotel is simple, it brings the minimum for a good stay: clean rooms, good brakfast and very easy o get to Dubrovnik Old City
