“The best in Dubrovnik”

We enjoyed our hotel in Dubrovnik very much. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms comfortable and the scenery exquisite. The bar and restaurant were beautiful and very clean. Would highly recommend it.

“a superb hotel”

We stayed for 4 nights at The Excelsior Hotel,and were delighted with the facilities which included a superb spa and indoor pool. There was a very high level of service ,and as a nice touch they had noticed from my passport that our stay co-incided with my birthday,resulting in a cake appearing in our room!. The accomodation was first class with our seaview room also having a wonderful view of the Old Town which was about 7 minutes walk away. We did not have dinner in the hotel, preferring to try the restaurants around the Old Town, but the breakfasts were great with immaculate service.

Area recommendations
Old Town walls are a must, also the Fort Imperial- the story of the seige of Dubrovnik in the Homeland War. The Restaurant Posat was exceptionnal.Well buying a Dubrovnik Card.

“A great place to stay”

This hotel is in a beautiful location, near enough to Dubrovnik to walk to the city walls in 5 minutes and not in a noisy area. The view from this hotel is fantastic. The staff could not do enough to help and there was a lot of attention to detail. I could not fault the cleanliness and the food great. Overall I would recommend wholeheartedly.

Area recommendations
The wall is a must. The views are breathtaking.

“For a 5 star hotel the cleaning service could have been better”

Whilst the Hotel was lovely and the service from the staff was excellent there were several times when we returned to our room to find the teasmade cups and used glasses from the previous evening had not been cleared away and fresh replacements provided. We complained at checkout and approx 10% ws taken off our final bill which was appreciated.

Area recommendations
The Old town was where we stayed for the entire 5 day holiday. There is plenty to do there. We did the 3 island cuise, (kolocep, Sipan + 1 other) which was pretty uneventful as they are sleep fishing villages, but was something to do none-the-less.
Shopping
Prices for everything, eating out, souvenirs etc are comparable to standard London prices.

“A few things”

It needs to be disclosed that when you have more than two people staying in a room, the extras get either a roll away cot or a sofa bed. Neither of which was comfortable. The hotel is beautiful and the location was great. The maid service sometimes was good but ours seem to not understand that there were three adults staying in the suite. They only left two large towels every day. I find it hard to believe that a 5 star hotel could not find a real bed for the third person. The pool area was great but they called a platform with chairs and service as a beach. I think a beach is where sand is and you can walk into the water. The platform had ladders to climb into the sea. They were very helpful to arrange days trips and did change our room. A classic room however does not include a view of the sea. This was not disclosed by Expedia or the hotel.

“Excellent Dubrovnik! Excellent Hotel!”

Excellent location, few minutes walk to Old Town.Excellent view. Generous breakfast included. Free Wi-Fi. Excellent private beach, swimming in Adriad.

“Wonderful hotel!”

We stayed at the Excelsior this year to try something different after staying within the walled city. Was perfect and maybe even easier than staying inside the city as you don't have to worry about lugging your suitcase to your hotl or finding parking. The hotel is located very close walking distance to the gates to the walled city. Very safe and you pass little kiosks to get water, beer, telephone cards etc. Although there is one main public beach in Dubrovnik, the hotel has its own private one which is great and not congested. The buffet breakfast was outstanding. Lots of variety and even included some speciality items like scrambled eggs with truffle shavings and sparkling wine for mimosas. Our room had a beautiful view of the sea with huge windows you can leave open at night and fall asleep to the gentle sounds of the waves. The occitane toiletries were a nice treat.

“Superb Hotel”

Great hotel in fantastic location only 5 minutes walk from the Old Town. The room had a balcony with stunning views across the Adriatic and of the Old Town. Excellent buffet breakfast and very helpful staff.
