Very nice hotel.

Posted 25-Aug-2014
Pros: The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in
Cons: Having an elevator off the lobby that takes you to your room
The hotel is located near public transportation and within a few blocks walking distance from Dublin city center. The hotel is very clean and the staff was most accommodating. The only drawback, and it is small, is that you must walk up some stairs to get to the elevators that take you to your room. It is not convenient when lugging a heavy suitcase. I would stay there again.

Nice Hotel

Posted 09-Aug-2014
Pros: Excellent bar/restaurant with good food and drinks and excellent, friendly service.
Cons: The toilet didn't always flush and the room key worked inconsistently. T.V. was very old.
Location: Right across from the train station. 10 minute walk to O'Connell Street, 20 minutes to Temple Bar.
Positive stay at the hotel. Reasonably priced for what you get. Shuttle bus to and from the airport for 6 euros. Staff helped plan tours out of the city and recommended places to visit.

Massive Let Down

Posted 17-Jul-2014
As excited as I was about initially staying at the North Star, I was quickly let down. We had several problems with our room that each took multiple calls and visits to the front desk to address. Each issue was met with indifference by the various employees and took several days to either remedy, or get a solid answer about. All this and we were supposedly given an upgrade to a premium room which to be honest we considered to be a standard room anyway. The bottom line being that we won't be returning and we definitely won't be recommending the hotel..my advise to other future customers is to look else where.

Rooms are a bit hot but great hotel

Posted 15-Jul-2014
The hotel and hotel restaurant are both lovely. The interior of the rooms are nice and much better than I expected, however, the rooms were extremely hot making the stay uncomfortable. You had to sleep with the window wide open and 2 fans on, also there was a train line right outside the bedroom window so could be a bit noisy at times. Apart from the heat and noise I would definitely recommend this hotel, it's a great location, lovely staff and very clean. The bar and restaurant are great, serving lovely food. Overall, I had a good stay.

Cons: All good.
Location: Train station across the road. Good bars & restaurants close by. Bus station nearby. Short walk to major tourist attractions.
Just a good place to go back to after a busy day. Great bar and restaurant. Clean and high quality conditions. Friendly and helpful staff with good recommendations for what to do and where to go.

Wouldn't stay again

Posted 01-Jun-2014
Pros: Front staff was nice
Cons: Update rooms, repair bathrooms
Location: bus depot is close, rough area, must walk a bit for shopping main attactions
We arrived early around 11 am and were given our room keys. When we arrived at our room, it was not the room we had anticipated based on the photos on expedia. The room was very dated, beds and carpet looked very old. When we questioned the staff, we were given a second room. This room was updated but located on the busy street side on the second floor. There is also a tram that runs very close to the hotel that shakes the room when it passes. We were given an apartment suite but were only given it for 1 night of our 3 night stay. We were promised the best room on our second night, the room was nice however the bathroom was another story. Cracked tub, poor tile job, holes in the tiles, tap fell off, caulking was cracked and the shower leaked. We didn't stay there the 3rd night. The area around the hotel seemed rough, would not feel safe walking there after dark. Wouldn't stay here again

Lovely hotel, nothing bad to say. Nice restaurant with beer garden under railway arch (a little dark as no direct sunlight!).

Not stellar

Posted 26-May-2014
The room was perfectly fine, if a little cramped given that it was advertised and priced at the top end of their available accommodation. The shower control fell off on first use. It was necessary to ring for entrance to the hotel after midnight, which entailed a wait of a few minutes on one occasion, not what one expects from a large hotel. The main disappointment was the breakfast, particularly the location - one had to wait at the entrance to be crossed off the list (again, the waiting time was longer than one would hope) and then be shown into a dreary windowless basement room, with cheap faux library wallpaper and banal background music. The food itself was minimally adequate but very uninspiring. It was all so dispiriting (for 12.50 euros per day) that I finally resorted to having breakfast elsewhere. The waiting times suggest that the hotel is rather understaffed for its size, although most staff were friendly or at least solicitous. I note that, unless I overlooked it at the time, it was not clear from the Expedia booking process that the breakfast was not included in the price. The information was available but only after looking for it carefully.
