Great Hotel in City Centre

Posted 20-Aug-2014
Pros: Great Staff, Spacious rooms, Beautiful building
I stayed here with my girlfriend for a short trip away and we can both say this is the best hotel we have stayed in. The Merrion is immaculate and the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and most importantly approachable. It is situated close to the city centre so that everything is within walking distance. Should I be visiting Dublin in the future I will definately be staying here again.

Perfect city stay

Posted 03-Aug-2014
Pros: Everything, but particularly the staff who were well-informed, efficient and friendly.
Cons: Nothing
Location: Dublin is a compact city and The Merrion was well-placed, being in a quiet area but only a short walk from busy streets and pubs.
My husband and I travelled from Norway to spend a week in Dublin. Our stay at The Merrion was excellent from the moment we checked in until the moment we left. ALL members of staff were courteous, well-informed and always available to give advice about the city when asked. We arrived after a long day of 'airport fatigue' , we were tired and needed to eat but did not desire a full meal. We were advised in reception that we could have a light meal, either in the bar or in the Restaurant. We chose the restaurant and were served exactly what we needed - two delicious starters which were perfect at that late hour Our room was beautiful and of the standard one would expect of a 5 star hotel. The concierge staff were excellent, friendly and polite, plus they kept the room spotlessly clean. It was wonderful to return after a hot day of sight-seeing to relax there in comfort.

Loved this hotel

Posted 28-Jul-2014
Pros: The hotel is close to everything you want to do in Dublin, the archeology museum, restaurants, hop on hop off bus, restaurants and shopping.
Location: Right near all you need and want to see, including music at night and fabulous restaurants.
The hotel is great. The staff is professional and helpful, the bellmen/concierge were knowledgeable and very helpful. Old European charm all up dated. The room had all the accouterments you want and didn't even know you needed. Comfortable bed, comforter, big bathroom, good breakfast. LOVED it!

Excellent hotel in brillian location

Posted 16-Jul-2014
Pros: The hidden gardens and swimming pool / spa
Cons: Found the food in both the Patrick Guilmaud restaurant attached to the hotel & the cellar bar disappointing and overpriced for the quality
Location: Right in the georgian centre of Dublin, close to St Stephens Green & walking distance to the Temple Bar district, Trinity college and Grafton Street
Hotel was beautiful and we could not fault the hotel reception or housekeeping staff who went out of their way to ensure that we had a comfortable and relaxing visit.

Top class hotel close to Dublin city centre.

Posted 14-Jul-2014
Pros: The hotel was beautiful with a terrace, drawing rooms, fitness centre, pool, steam room and a choice of dining inc a 2 michelin star restaurant.
Location: Within walking distance of the city centre and a sightseeing bus stop just outside the door.
Very friendly staff providing excellent service. Bedroom in the garden building provided everything you could need including comfortable bed, bathrobes, slippers, mini bar, separate shower and bath in a marble bathroom and 24 hour room service.

More of a 4 star with 5 star pricing

While the ambience of the sitting areas and gardens are lovely, I found some details were lacking. It was the first hotel out of 6 in Ireland where the wifi wouldn't work and we were in rural areas prior to The Merrion. We also had several flies in our room and every time I'd kill one, another appeared. We requested the local paper (reception asked if we wanted it) and we never received it.
