“Wonderful hotel for a short stay”

A very warm welcoming by the staff including hot towels to freshen up after travelling. All staff extremely helpful. We stayed on the executive floor and had use of the executive lounge which was adequatley stocked. The bathroom in our room was very spacious with a seperate bath and large walk in shower. Will definatley recommend this hotel to our friends.

Area recommendations
Temple Bar for pubs, restaurants and shows with live entertainment. Henry Street Shopping Area for an excellant choice of shops.
Events and shows
The Arlington Hotel O Connell Bridge. The service in the retaurant was very good although menu could have been better. The traditional live Irish music and Irish dancing show, which was free and performed 7 nights a week, was fantastic. We recommend booking a table in advance for the best view.

“Go for the executive floor!”

We got a really good deal through Expedia for the executive floor. this is the fourth floor of the hotel and has its own lounge area where you can get tea and drinks through out the day. We had bath robes, slippers, etc in the room. Its not a hotel to stay in if you want views becasue its looks out onto Croke Park. But its great for location and comfort. Ideal for a romantic break. you can walk into dublin in aprox 25mins. Really clean, quiet and modern. The staff were grand, didnt really need to speak to anyone after check in.

Area recommendations
Take a walk through grafton Street. Buzzing with street performers and great shopping. Temple bar is also worth a walk, however I would not recomend eating or drinking here as it is more expensive than other areas.
Shopping
Dublin is amazing for shopping, lots of department stores aswell. Try grafton Street
Dining
Theres a really nice italian restaurant close to the hotel, just ask them for directions.

“just on the edge of the action”

Croke Park Hotel is right opposite the GAA stadium, however,it is only a 10 minute walk from the top of O`Connell Street where the action starts! All the facilities are of a high standard and even the Guinness is not too expensive @ 4.7 Euro.

Area recommendations
Temple Bar is busiest area, with all its bars and shops not far

“Fantastic weekend at The Croke Park !”

Stayed for three nights with friends and had chosen this hotel over others from web reviews. On arrival we were welcomed by staff offering hot towels to refresh ourselves and were given rooms on the "Executive" 4th floor, (many thanks for the deal Expedia !!). The Executive room allowed for free WiFi, a large, clean and comfortable room, access to the executive lounge with free continental breakfast / newspapers and free coffee/tea/juice and water all day. Another nice touch in the room were vouchers for a free drink per person per evening either at the bar or by room service! The "fold down" service also included lavender scented bed warmers and usual chocolate on the pillow. The hotel is a 15 min walk to O'Connell Street, or a taxi ride of 10 euro. We also booked tour bus tickets from the hotel concierge and were given the tickets at a discounted rate. The buses stop at the hotel on their travels as they visit the Croke Park stadium. We also visited the restuarant and bar and found them to be priced comparably or even cheaper than bars in the city centre. Food was excellent and absolutely no complaints. I must also mention the Italian restuarant about 100 yds up the road - Enoteca D'Asti - if you get the chance visit ! Food was brill, prices reasonable and staff fantastic. I've visited Dublin on numerous occasions. This is by far the best hotel i've stayed at and would thouroughly reccomend it. I will be back ! (hopefully soon !)

Area recommendations
It would be too easy to reccomend Dublin to others by saying visit Temple Bar etc, so what I will say is that my favourite venues in Dublin are - for a nice quiet drink - Cafe En Seine, Dawson Street, for live music - Whelans, Wexford Street - for a small drink - The Dawson Lounge, Dawson Street (smallest bar in the world) or for an afternoon Guiness and bar food - Bar Bruxelles, Harry Street or The Duke, Duke Street.

“Great hotel”

After reading some of the reviews about this hotel and the surrounding area, I was a little worried. The hotel is a little out of the way but is definitely within walking distance to the city. Besides the best way to experience the city is to walk it. Although I never walked the streets alone, I don't think I would have felt unsafe doing so. Me and my husband walked the streets from the city back to our hotel nightly, usually well after dark. You can take the back way or you can walk a little further out of the way and stay primarily on main streets. Either way, we both felt very safe. The hotel itself is well kept and the staff is extremely friendly. The free wi-fi was a huge plus for us, especially since cell service is really not an option for non EU travelers. I would definitely recommended this hotel and would consider staying there again if I am ever back in the area.

“Recommend”

The Croke Park Hotel is an excellent place to stay to be comfortable and away from the city center. The staff was very helpful, I had witnessed them loaning umbrellas to guests when it rained and even have extra converters to a guest who forgot to pack one. We ended up have issues with out flight and arrived in Dublin without suitcases, they gave us drink coupons for the room. Taxis are easy to get and they are the most friendly people to talk too. Yes we did a lot of walking to get to Temple Bar area or shopping but overall everything is reachable to walk then take a train or bus to any attraction. We really saw more by strolling through the area and the people were friendly. I read some comments about the breakfast that if you boo through Expedia - the hotel was not aware. this did happen to us too. I had a copy of my reservation and pointed it out when we came down in the morning. The staff was nice and we did not experience many issues with it. Yes I had to show it more then once. But by day 3 the staff knew we had it included.

When to go
I have been to Ireland only in the Fall - October and November. Just note that the later in the year you go some attractions might be closed. October was a fantastic time because the weather was mild, and I prefer the cooler temps.
Getting around
WALK WALK WALK - the Dart (train) stations have pickups all over Dublin and for a group of 4 it was less then 20 Euros. The bus is about 1.65 euros, exact change is mandatory, the drivers do not give change. Taxi's are great, drivers are kind and helpful - I think the most I paid was 21 Euros for 3 people - just like other places - there is a fee for more then one passenger. There is also the Tram, but I did not utilize it. Dublin also has bikes that you rent but the bike paths are small and on the road with traffic.
What to pack
Pack good walking shoes and inserts for them helps. Dress in layers. One minute warm, then windy and cool. Loved the weather. Umbrellas most of the time would be useless because of the wind - better off with a good rain resistant jacket.
Must see
If you go - take the Dart to Malahide - there is a fantastic area to stroll on the beach, explore a castle not far, wonderful woodlands, etc. Then another day take the Dart to Howth and do the trails to see the cliffs. Bring good walking shoes. The sites are fantastic and there are less people then other areas. Hungry? Temple Bar - go to the Boxty House and Quay's, The Lamb Stew is fantastic and the service at both was wonderful. See Christ Church, the Goal, Dublin Castle etc. Had a great time.
Shopping
Go to Pennys (not JC Pennys) for any thing you forgot - the prices are reasonable. Clergy's is across the street and is really nice, almost feels like Macy's NYC. We found a few nice items there but the majority is expensive, however they have a great coffee shop on the first floor called Barney's with free wifi. Insomnia are great little coffee houses around Dublin, the muffins are great.

“Great hotel in the capital”

This was my second stay in this hotel and I can only say that it is excellent. The staff have a great attitude, the hotel is new and clean and comfortable, parking is free. Nothing is too much trouble for the team. I travel a lot (too much if you ask my wife) and I would recommend this hotel to the business or leisure traveller alike.
