“Noisy”

The hotel itself is quiet at night but the noise in the area will keep a light sleeper awake. We heard trash trucks and partiers through the early morning hours. This is really close to the center of Temple Bar though so if you are looking to be close to it all I recommend this hotel.

Getting around
Be sure to get tickets for the double-decker hop on/hop off tour. This will get you to all of the major sites. The hotel sells the tickets (for the green bus only) and the stop is at the opposite corner.

“Too Hot”

Had to open all windows as the radiator was stuck on full. Then got someone up to turn radiator off meaning no heat at all.

“Small, but right in the heart of the action.”

Before you book, I will say that this hotel is definitely right in the thick of the Temple Bar district of Dublin and you will hear the nightlife around you. So not suited for those with young children or very light sleepers. Personally, I didn't have a problem but something you should be aware of. The hotel is small, tucked away down a back street. At first I was really ensure but the bedroom was lovely. It was simple but really comfy. More than enough storage, space and lighting. The reason this hotel is so great however, and the reason I would heartily recommend it and use it again next time I am in Dublin, is because its location is really unbeatable for the price you pay. I was a short walk from everything- The restaurants were on your doorstep, Trinity College straight down the road a couple of hundred metres, a cinema just five minutes walk away (Cineworld which has a ridiculous amount of screens and pretty much shows everything on at the moment). The WIFI is free and it was a really good signal. The TV was old, with a grainy picture, but to be honest I watched the television for a total of 5 mins the whole time I was there. This hotel is perfect for those who want a good base, close to the action, at a reasonable price. It isn't fancy, but does everything it says on the tin.

When to go
May or September: Straight from one of the locals who said this was the driest time and historically when they get the best weather. However, I went in November and I was wearing a t-shirt so it was just as lovely for a winter break.
Dining
Book in advance. There are many places to eat but the good places are always rammed. You won't just walk in and get a place.

“great location, but the location is loud”

The Paramount Hotel is a great place to stay if you want to be in Temple Bar in Dublin. The staff is friendly and the rooms are big enough and cozy. One note - the Temple Bar area is loud, period. Remember that when booking. If you don't want to hear the people and the bars on the street until 2am, don't stay here. If you want to enjoy the pub atmosphere, then it's a perfect location!

“always reliable”

I've stayed here a few times now and it's an excellent option for the price and location. Reading other reviews here I asked this time for a quiet room and I got exactly that - the view was over the heating ducts but I wasn't there to see the view anyway. There are no extras (no sewing kits, shower caps, shoe shine kind of thing...they do provide cheap shampoo and body lotion) but it is clean, beds are comfortable, location is great, and the staff are good. cheap and cheerful. recommend. Queen of Tarts around the corner on Cow Lane have excellent breakfasts for under a tenner.

“Right by the excitement”

Right next to the Temple Bar area. Walking distance to other sights, such as the Guinness Storehouse, Old Jameson Distillery, Dublin Castle, etc. Bars and clubs in the area are open late, so if you want to go to bed early, the noise might keep you up.

“Great hotel - great location!”

The hotel room was clean and well appointed. The room was small for two people to share. The location was great - I had read about the nighttime noise in the area due to the partying and bars....yet it was quiet for us. I was there for 3 nights, and only 1 night was noisy, but it didn't keep us from sleeping. I would stay there again.

“Great location, ask for a quiet room”

Great location. Room tidy, nice clean linen. Good wifi signal. My room faced the street. Although it was on the fourth floor, there was significant street noise at 2am even on a Monday night. I was tired enough not to worry about it. No aircon I believe.

“Wonderful location for everything”

Location for any trip is important and this hotel has it all. 1 block from Dublin City and the edge of the Temple bars precinct. Ask for high back room if noise wakes you up, we had 1st floor with not much sleep lost. Fantastic staff and the only thing we asked for was more pillows as they are flat and skinny. Room was a good size and very comfortable. Food at the hotel is well priced and wonderfully prepared. For price of nightly stay and the location and close to tour companies starting points was Wonderful.. Highly recommended.

Area recommendations
go on any tour that you like, we did 3 out of the City. We highly recommend Extreme Tours as the bus only carries up to 20 passengers and the guides are funny and informative.
What to pack
check the weather before you go..we thought summer and had rain and cold

“Temple Bar Area Treasure”

Charming old hotel (renovated!) located in old town Dublin in Temple Bar area. Very comfortable room with many modern amenities provided, and elevators. Very friendly and helpful desk staff. Walking distance to the amazing sites in Dublin South, and close to Ha'penny bridge and the river Liffey. Building includes Turk's Head Bar; if you're an early-to-bed person, request rooms away from the side with the bar. It was a wonderful place to stay and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again, and would recommend it to anyone wanting a place to stay to explore Dublin.

Area recommendations
Definitely get a hotel in the Temple Bar area (Paramount Hotel is great!). It's easy walking distance to the best historic, cultural, and shopping sites in Dublin; and a great place for evening leisure activities.
When to go
We're lucky enough to be able to travel during low season, and were there in April. Typically, there's the least rainfall in April/May. Everything was blooming - flowers, trees, etc. Don't forget - Ireland has palm trees - so you can imagine what a pleasure it was to be there when it was still snowing where I'm from!

Temple Bar - Dublin Castle, Dublin, Ireland: This small enclave by the river was developed into Dublin’s Cultural Quarter in the 1980s, and soon became the city’s nightlife centre. Temple Bar is still devoted to eating, drinking, entertainment, and shopping. By day, it’s an arty alternative hangout; by night, groups of partying tourists make it a rowdier haunt. Near the famous Ha’penny Bridge, Merchants’ Arch retains some of the area’s atmosphere from a century or so ago.
