“Maldron Hotel Smithfield”
On the plus side: We had a 4th floor family room and views over the city were OK. The room had a balcony. The beds were comfortable. The multi-channel TV worked. The Breakfasts were good and reasonably priced. The evening meals ditto. There were complementary Newspapers in the lounge. It was close the river and most of the locations for the craic. Reception staff [Polish mostly] very friendly. On the minus side: You have to pay extra for parking [albeit discounted] There were only two cups for a three person family room. Our trouser press was dangerous. It was probably incorrectly wired. It did not work when buttons were pressed, but the attached iron came on instead. The bedside lights were incorrectly wired also., The left side switch turned on the right side lamp and vice-versa. The extractor in the bathroom did not work. This made using it for any purpose very unpleasant for those either inside or outside of it. Lamp-stand had no bulb an when I switched one out of a lamp that did work, it didn't work. On arrival I asked Reception to make good all these problems or move us to another room. None of which happened.
“Quiet hotel near the heart of the city”
We booked the Maldron Smithfield hotel in Dublin as the reviews said it was a quiet hotel within walking distance of Temple Bar, an area we were interested in visiting and spending our evenings there. The hotel was easy to find (printed a map) and was indeed walking distance from Temple Bar area and took approximately 20 minutes to get there or back. There was very little noise disturbance in our room, even with the window open (we had a room that faced into the internal courtyard). The room was clean, bar a few stains on the carpet which is forgivable, and the bathroom was spotless and modern (which is always nice!!). On checking out we were offered to have our luggage stored for the day (we declined) and were able to check in for our flight later that day for free as well as print off our boarding passes. I would definitely recommend staying here if you don't mind walking to Temple Bar, although I'm sure there would be a bus that went in that direction if required.
“nice hotel”
A great hotel in Dublin, and only 2 tram stops away from temple bar and shopping. The hotel has all the necesseties for a cheap price. Its conveniently located close to tram stop.
“Great view of the City”
The Madron Smithfield was great. The staff was helpful and we had a great view from the balcony.
“Close to LUAS a big plus.”
Smithfields is due for a second urban renewal. Most of the area shops closed. Staff helped me order food that was delivered. Hotel is a bargain at Expedia rates. Very nice room although the shower was a little snug. I'd like to see a bowed shower curtain rod and higher shower head. Personally, I don't think the neighbourhood's safe at night but I felt safe in the hotel. Lift requires your room card. Close to LUAS and Four Courts. I'd stay there again.
“We loved it - walked a lot though”
We arrived quite late; found the place easily after looking it up on the map and checked in fast without problem. The room was clean and bigger than I expected. The area was quiet and looked as part of a recent development. The hotel is near a Luas station (Smithfield); on foot about 20 minutes from O'Connell street so we usually walked. The check-out was smooth and the staff helpful. There is a store right next to the hotel which came handy.
“Excellent Service . 1st Class accommodation.”
A 1st class Hotel. Excellent service and good value for money. Very good reception upon arrival and very accommodating. Would return when next in Dublin.
“Dublin Hotel”
Hotel staff was very helpful and curtious. The areas we were looking to go to were all within walking distance (10-15 mins).
“Great place to stay”
Would recommend this hotel
“Maldron Smithfield”
Stayed in the hotel when it first opened as a Comfort Inn. That stay was much nicer. The hotel was not as clean or well kept this time, and the staff was not nearly as persoanable and friendly.
