“Very Lovely Hotel”
Had everything we needed for a weekend away & more. Supply you with hairdryer & ironing board, tea & coffee, kettle, shampoo & soap. Lovely bathroom, lovely bedroom. Club was in the basement of the hotel and you can get in without queing or paying entry fee, we had a bedroom on the second floor & didnt hear any excess noise from the club. Overall, was really excellent.
“Won't go back”
Very loud disco until 2:30 AM. Slamming doors, loud noise in hallways most of the night. Would never return or recommend.
“Good Value for the Price”
We stayed at Harcourt for one night in September at the beginning of our trip. The staff were friendly and welcoming - they were able to get a room ready for us upon our early arrival around 11AM, which was nice after an overnight flight! It's conveniently located and in walking distance of many attractions - we walked to St. Stephens Green, Temple Bar area, Grafton Street and Guinness Factory (we took the 123 bus to the factory, but walked back). We took the Aircoach bus from the airport to get here (8 Euro p/p), and it was only about a 5 minute walk from the Lower Leeson St. bus stop. A cab ride to the Heuston train station the next morning from Harcourt was only about 12 Euro (and the front desk arranged the pick up in advance to keep us on schedule). Breakfast is offered in the attached restaurant and is okay for a quick bite on the way out. The rooms were standard, we had enough room to move around. We were on the ground floor of the attached building next door and we did hear what sounded like a big party going on outside our window (on a Tuesday night!), but it wasn't so loud that it kept us awake. Overall, I thought it was a good value for the price we paid for a quick night in Dublin.
“OK Hotel”
The price was good and was convenient to get to from the Dublin Airport by bus. There was much noise from band music and outside noise from people in the streets. The tram also runs right in front of the hotel and that adds to the noise. The hotel is close to many areas and restaurants in the area are plentiful. Hotel people were very friendly.
“Loud at night”
We asked for a quiet room having read the reviews, but believe me, it was not quiet. Two of the three nights we stayed there I did not get much sleep. The third night sleep occured from sheer exhaustion. The housekeeping staff seemed to have trouble all three days remembering to leave towels, tea, coffee, and cups for the three of us that stayed in the room. The beds were ok, and the shower was good. We had a wierd maze to get to our room including an elevator ride up 2 floors, a few minutes of walking, and a flight of stairs down too with no additional elevator. Made luggage transport very difficult.
“Shabby”
My room had a mirror door inside the bathroom, which was broken and repaired with duct tape, but a real safety hazard if the duct tape ever fails. The bathroom washbasin was the smallest I've ever seen, and only just usable. The room was so small that the TV set had to be put on top of the wardrobe - maybe this is what you get for the special rate for Expedia!. Decor was once grand but now just looks shabby. Not much use for a business trip as there was no iron, no trouser press, and I am sure no wifi (might just be a pigeon loft, but I didn't ask). Staff helpful, but not an Irish welcome as they all seem to be Eastern European.
“noisy”
night club underneath goes until 3 am. Location excellent. Sleep Poor!
“Great hotel if you're 20!”
Our room was great, just what we needed and very clean. However, we were at the front of the hotel and as the weather was muggy we had the windows open. This meant every person who had a cigarette on the front step, the smoke came in our window. People smoke, chat, shout and argue until about 4 in the morning. The bar attached to the hotel is also a club and so the noise is endless. For some reason a range of car horns sound just before everyone eventually goes home. On the Sunday night, the fire alarms went off at 3.20 in the morning just for good measure! The acommodation in this hotel is great. It's a shame about the club and the noise at the front of the hotel.
“Can't get there from here.”
Difficult to get to if unfamiliar with Dublin. Parking was a challenge for our ford transit van as it would not fit into the garage they assinged us. The location is good and in walking distance of "Major Shopping and site seeing spots around St. Stephen's Green. Get bus tour tickets which will save you a lot of walking. Hop on Hop off is worth it.
“Nothing wrong, but no frills”
The location is great, with Iveagh Gardens to the rear and St. Stephens Green/Grafton Street a couple of hundred yards away. The hotel bar (d-two) is very nice with lots of screens showing live sport. The room is very standard, but i suppose that's what you pay for - nothing wrong, just don't expect to spend too much time in there.
