“great stay”
very comfortable hotel, well maintained and very clean. Location wise : 15 min walk from grafton street but very central to Grand Canal Theatre, Aviva stadium. Hotel staff were very friendly and accomodating. It was my second time staying there and i will stay again without doubt. The guinness in the bar (gasworks) was better than a lot of good pubsAine
“First Visit to Dublin - very impressed”
Great hotel, good location, near to the School House 'Aircoach' stop which is only about 5 minutes walk away. Dublin City Tour 'hop on hop off'' stop is only a 10 minutes walk from the hotel to Merrion Square. Very comfortable hotel, good facilities - restaurant and bar, room is spacious however pillows very hard! Tea/coffee making facilities in the room but kettle takes a long time to boil! Room service was prompt and very good and the full Irish breakfast at a very reasonable price is to be highly recommended. Transfer to the O2 was somewhat chaotic, traffic was a problem with a late departure from the hotel and a late arrival at the venue; this aspect could be much better organised. Overall very pleased with the hotel, staff were very courteous and helpful and would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends. Thank you very much Grand Canal Hotel!!
“A very good choice”
I found the hotel to be very pleasant and comfortable. Good location - walking distance to maun attractions and buses ckose by, but also gave opportuniy to see and enjoy other areas that had a lot to offer. Pub attached to hotel very good and other good reataurants nearby. I found staff to be pleasant and helpful. Tarrif was very good through on line booking and I would definitely choose to stay here again.
“hotel good bar very noisy”
we stayed at this hotel twice. when we first arrived in Dublin & again at the end of our holiday. For the most part if you get the executive which are located near the back of the hotel & are on upper floors its great. If you get just the hotel room you are in the rooms over & near the bar which has the music banging until 2 or 3 in the morning. Didn't eat here so can't comment on the food. the convenience of them providing parking was a plus as we had a rental car. no charge for the underground parking. the staff were very friendly & helpful. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk to Grafton st. the shopping area of Dublin & not necessarily in the best neighbourhoods but not the worst either. like many foreign places i wouldn't walk them at night. if you are in the temple bar area or shopping district take a bus or train from downtown. The train station is located only half a block from the hotel. Although the hotel had a lot going for it i would prefer to stay closer to grafton st. but parking spaces for those hotels are scarce.
“Great place to stay!”
The staff were absolutely wonderful--they were all very friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious even by American standards, let alone European ones; very clean and even had bathrobes there for your use. It's about a 20 minute walk to Grafton Street or any of the main attractions, but there is a DART station close by and if you have one of the tour bus tickets, Merrion Square is not so far. I would definitely stay there again if I can make it back to Dublin!
“Just a Ok place”
The staff in the hotel are great and helpful, Very clean place,Only down side is the place is not at the city center and have to depend on taxis most of the time to get in to town and back.
“Graduation holiday”
My parents and grandparents flew to Dublin for my graduation ceremony, and I booked them 3 nights at the Grand Canal Hotel. We couldn't be happier. The service was excellent, the adjacent bar was very convinient and the food served within was also quite good. There was an underground parking garage which was very convinient as we had a rental. The neighbourhood doesn't have much going on except the grand canal theatre a few minutes away, but as my grandparents are elderly, they weren't really interested in hitting the town anyway. All things considered this was a very good hotel, very clean, modern, with free wifi and great staff. The location is good for business travelers and those looking for something slightly outside the core.
“Clean”
Room was exceptionally clean
“great for a rugby day out”
Hotel staff are friendly and fun. Hotel is basic but clean and comfortable and a great base to enjoy a Rugby Game and the local pubs, restaurants.
“Clean, Quiet, Nearby Train Station”
Excellent value, good service, and well furnished modern rooms. Nearby DART station for easy access to City Centre and coastal towns. Good food in on-site restaurants/pub and also nearby Schoolhouse Hotel Pub. Amusing TV channel with tropical fish and classical music. Best connections with Dublin Airport via AirCoach (drops you off two blocks away) vs AirLink (a much longer walk). Suggested activity if you wake up too early due to jet lag - ride the DART train south for the sunrise along the coast then back north. This local commuter train in clean and safe and opens several hours before any museums/tours even on weekends. They have a one-day unlimited service pass for a reasonable cost.
