“I'll go there again.”
The women at the front desk were very helpful. the food was excellent in the restaurant. I was surprised , reasonable for the quality. Shuttle left on time and had us at the airport in 15 minutes.
“Not on airport campus”
While the hotel was satisfactory, it was too far away from the airport to walk. A service bus is available, but every half hour, so could be a long wait. It serves a purpose if the other two hotels on campus are full. No problems with the room or hotel service.
“It is certainly not the Ritz”
I only stayed at this hotel for one night since I had an early flight the next morning and it was close to the airport. The lobby was nice but the rooms were a little dingy and had a strange odor. We arrived early so our room was not ready. They said it would be a half hour wait but after sitting in the lobby for an hour we left for the day. There is no ice available anywhere unless you want to go to the bar to get it. In the middle of the night a very loud alarm went off awakening and frightening everyone in the hotel. The staff was very dissmissive about it the next morning. There are tons of outlets available which is very convenient for charging phones and computers. For the cost, I think the hotel was worth it.
“This is 2 Star at best”
Food was aweful - needs money spent - looks beaten up - driver dropped us at the wrong terminal after confirming twice with him .
“Sorry, can't recommend”
The staff at this hotel was most polite and helpful. However, the lighting in the bathroom was totally inadequate, dark and impossible to see to apply makeup or comb hair. There was no soap dish in the shower stall. The single towel bar was mounted on the wall right next to the toilet only about 2-1/2 feet off the floor, so we had to stoop to use it. There is probably a lot of bacteria on those towels from flushing the toilet. The tv couldn't be adjusted for brightness. The room itself was pleasant, but the doors in the corridors were badly scuffed. The restaurant is kind of sad with crumbs on the floor. Carleton probably knows people are there for only one night, and is not motivated to provide proper facilities or renovation of public spaces.
“Great hotel for airport overnight stay”
Hotel was clean, staff were very accommodating...able to get in room before official check in time. Reasonable priced...close to rental car return (actually walked back to hotel after returning car...stayed overnight...took hotel shuttle to airport the next morning). Much better than we expected...would definitely stay here again!
“Good value and great location for overnight stay if flying out from Dublin airport”
Very good price and convenient for the airport with courtesy coach every half hour. Dan Dooleys car hire next door is much better value than the big operators at the airport. Staff are very helpful and friendly but hotel itself is in need of some modernisation. Cannot deny it was good value for an overnight stay. The bedroom needed a fridge in bedroom but free Broadband was a great bonus.
“Great experience”
We ended our week-long trip to SW Ireland with a day in Dublin and stayed at the Carlton because it was reasonably priced and close to the airport for our early flight the next morning. The people at the desk were very helpful in getting boarding passes printed and their shuttle runs 24 hours a day so we were able to leave for the airport at 5:00 in the morning without any problems. The room was comfortable, clean, well-designed and higher quality than we expected. One disappointment though was that there was no refrigerator to keep food/beverages cold. The bus to downtown Dublin was a block away and even made going into town easy. We will definitely return to this hotel if we are in Dublin again.
“great option”
This hotel was a breath of fresh air. Everything about it was just terrific and at a reasonable rate as well.
“Good for the situation”
Normally if we were going in to see Dublin, we would not stay near the airport, but this trip we were getting in in the evening and then driving out west the next morning. For this reason, this location was perfect. The Carlton is a very short drive (not a walk) from the airport. There is a Carlton shuttle, which is good because the taxis don't want to give up their spot in the queue for such a short fare. A car rental is located directly next to the Carlton (which was a great place to rent a car, compared to others we've tried) and the Carlton is clean and yes, surprisingly quiet for being so close to the airport. The front desk staff was very friendly and great at check-in. They were also great in helping us return the rental car (after business hours) on the tail end of our trip even though we weren't guests at that point. The downsides: The water temperature in the shower fluctuated all over the place, the internet is REALLY slow and not useable for anything significant, and unlike the front desk staff, the restaurant staff was COMPLETELY APATHETIC. The food was great, the service was awkward and unaccomodating all the way through. Overall, in the same situation, we might try another hotel, but this worked pretty well if we don't need to use the internet.
