“Excellent value for a very good hotel near the city centre of Dublin”

We were over to celebrate my grandson's baptism and we stayed in this hotel as did other members of the family. We were delighted with the friendliness of the staff and they were helpful at all times, answering any questions we had. Always with a smile. We will certainly stay there again and will recommend it to others. Thanks for a very pleasant stay. We are over in Dublin at least once every 2 months, we don't always need hotel accommodation but will certainly always use this one as it is near our daughter and son-in law's house.

Area recommendations

The area the hotel is in as it is near the train station, Phoenix park, the zoo and the Lewes is very handy as are the buses to get into the city centre. Other areas of attraction near by are also Kilmainham Jail and the Guinness Factory. I would recommend these as Dublin is a lovely city with warm friendly people.

“Very nice hotel -great location”

Convenient to train station for airport bus access. Also close to train to get to Citycenter and Temple Bar area. Staff very helpful.

“might be 4 star on the surface but the rooms Are not!”

Lovely Hotel, as you enter it has a grand welcome area, however the 4 star ends there im afraid. The bedrooms are nice but not exactly what i would expect from a 4 star hotel, the windows were padded with tissue paper!! and the decor isn't exactly to everyone's taste. Besides that however! it was a great place to stay, and i would go back there, it was in a great location, only a 5-10 min tram ride into the centre, but walking is just as manageable easily done in 30 mins. And its easy to find as it sits on the river and within easy access to both the tram and the train station.

Area recommendations

I would recomend the ghost bus if anybody is thinking about going on any tours well worth the 28 euros!

“Like to return”

Staff were very willing to answer any questions we had. We found the hotel suited our needs well with close public transport and an easy walk into the Dublin attractions. Our room was very comfortable but had no view.

“Awful bed”

This bed was the worst bed I have ever slept in. The location is not close to downtown however it is close to the train station with easy access into the city. I would not come back

“not impressed”

lobby is more updated than rest of hotel. Rooms and halls are outdated, very dingy. For a place just to get a night's sleep it's ok, but do not recommend walking around area at night.j Wifi does not work in rooms, only lobby

“Nice Hotel in a Convenient Location”

We stayed one night at the Ashling Hotel. We found the hotel to be in a very convenient location.A short ride to the city center. Close to the train station, airport busses, Hop on Hop off busses, and other city transportation. We were able to take a short walk to a great pub for dinner. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Our only complaint was that our room was too warm. Despite the cool outside weather the room remained very warm throughout the night with the window open.

Area recommendations

We did the Hop on Hop off bus tour since we had only a day in the city. In this way we were able to see and hear about the main attractions and select the attractions we wanted to visit. We did and saw a lot in the short time we were in Dublin. We would recommend not to miss Trinity College with the Book of Kells display and the Guiness tour.

Getting there

We used public transportation to see Ireland. We traveled on busses most of the time. It was easy to learn the schedules and fares by using the internet website or talking to people at the information centers. To travel from Cork to Dublin we chose to travel by train. The train was much faster and comfortable. The train is more expensive but it is less expensive if booked online. Seats can be reserved on the train.

“ireland trip”

We really enjoyed our stay at the Ashling hotel and most especially its convienent location to the bus depot. The only disappointing factor in the hotel was that there was not spa, (Swimming pool and hot tub). Otherwise I would have no issue recommending the hotel to anyone.

Area recommendations

Would recommend possibly being a little closer to downtown for the shopping and evening entertainment.

“Dublin-Ashling hotel - very good hotel”

Being located so near the Heuston train station (3-4 minute walk) was really wonderful for us as we had some trains to catch early morning and also returned rather late (twice). Being able to walk over to the train and back was a great convenience. This is a bit waya from the bustling Temple Bar which was a positive for us but may be a negative for some others.
