“Cheap and Cheerful”
We chose the Ardmore Hotel due to its location for a family visit. It is located about halfway between Dublin Airport and Dublin City Centre. The city centre is accessible via local bus route 40 and costs around €2 for an adult single fare. A taxi from the hotel to the city centre costs around €15. Apart from the hotel restaurant, there are no local restaurants to speak of ( a lot of take aways available in Finglas Village though, which is about a 10 minute walk away) We had room service twice during the stay - there was a €5 surcharge for ordering room service. Each time, there were problems with the order, things not arriving that we were charged for, or no cutlery provided and the food was cold by the time the cutlery was provided. There were no apologies from the hotel for this. The food was ok, but not great for the price charged. The room was small but clean and functional, similar to a travel inn type hotel. Good for budget travellers, however, if you are relying on taxis, you may be better paying extra for a hotel closer to the city. Good for the price and may suit business travellers who need to be close to town and the airport. Over the weekend, there was a lot of noise and disturbance on the floor we stayed on, it continued throughout the night and we could not sleep, it did not appear that anything was done about the disturbance.. Free Wi-Fi is available but only in the hotel lobby. I would consider staying here again, as long as the price was very competitive.
“Uneventful”
Ardmore in good location from the city. Buses come frequently during the daytime. Clean hotel, otherwise nothing remarkable about the staff, maybe because it's winter. One of the receptionist (male) was helpful. Wifi not very strong in my room, just remember to ask for the cord-ethernet. The kind gentleman offered it. Remember to dust ur bed before you sleep because the housekeeping might not dust the bed or change the sheets on the bed. Cost 15-20 Euro for taxi to the airport. You can take the bus into the city then bus to the airport too....get info. It cost about 16Euro form city center to hotel at night. It snowed that night so it might be cheaper in the summer. Dublin is very tourist friendly. No fear!
“fine if you don't like sleeping with your spouse...”
The hotel was a bit difficult to find. We had to call twice on our way there for directions and the front desk was not extremely helpful. She seemed irritated that we were lost. We got there, checked in and were asked to move our car to the secure underground lot... I'm not sure about the outlying area of the hotel. We paid in advance and they ended up giving us a room with two twin beds. When we called back down to the front desk and asked about the beds, they said all of the rooms were full and they could do nothing for us. I felt like I was in a 50's sitcom when I went to bed at night, staring at my husband 10 feet away...
“Great place to stay outside of city centre”
Was a bit concerned after reading some reviews, but this hotel is very upscale and has all the required amenities. Looks like a lot of business people stay here. Dinner in restaurant was excellent (finer dining). Hotel staff were very helpful in directing us how best to get to the city centre on local bus service rather than navigating the chaos in our rental. Secure underground parking was a bonus! Definitly would return.
“Back to the Ardmore”
Convenient to the airport the ring road and the city centre.Secure parking and the bar is friendly, No problem with heating (as once before). Staff always friendly, helpful and unobtrusive.24 hour teso nearby so no problems with buying anything, day or night. I'll be using this hotel for prererence in the future although as always I'll be comparing the rate on offer with other hotels in Dublin. Good staging post on first and last night of holiday. Off down the country first thing and back for airport last thing.
“EIRE”
Excellent staff and close to airport. Neighborhood poor, but can eat and drink in hotel.
“Good experience for room rate, but transportation to / from airport adds up”
I would simply note that if you're on a budget (as I am) the hotel is a 20 euro cab ride from the airport, and a 20 euro cab ride back in the morning if you're flying again the next day. No airport shuttle from the hotel.
“B+”
If you are looking for some breathing room, the Ardmore is well worth the stay. You will be 2 miles from the City Center. However, the hotel is very clean and efficient. Transportation is good by bus and staff will gladly call a taxi if you prefer. The hotel is near a Tesco supermarket/plaza and Burger King for conveniences. I enjoy walking and am in no hurry when visiting Ireland, so this hotel is a nice welcome.
“Clean and comfortable”
Stayed at Ardmore Hotel for 2 nights with my partner. We were fairly impressed with the modern hotel, the service of the staff, the cleanliness and the bar area, they were all of high standard. The only down side was the location, in the summer months a walk into the city wouldnt be a problem but due to the awful weather we decided against the walk, which meant several buses each day, however, the bus stopped directly outside the hotel and was really inexpensive.
“OK hotel”
value for money. don't expect anything special but price is fair. don't go there if you are not ready to use public transport. if u will use taxi it's better to find more expensive hotel in a city center.
