"Great Service"
Everyone was friendly and welcoming and helpful. Have to mention Jennifer especially as we seem to deal with her the most. I have to say she was extremely delightful nothing was too much trouble if we needed any assistance she was always able to sort out the issue and she did so with a very pleasant and jovial manner. She reorganised our extended stay at the apartments and we found her to be extremely competent and knowledgeable which made our stay so much better. We would stay there again when we come back to Dublin because of the service and also the great location.

"For a hostel, it is one of the best"
This is one of the better hostels. Rooms hold as few as 2 people all the way up to dozens. We chose a four person room, and the price was great. The continental breakfast was simple, but filling. There was a lift, too, which was extremely nice. It is on Fleet Street in Temple Bar, so bring ear plugs if you are sensitive to noise. I am a light sleeper and had no problem with the ear plugs. People who choose to stay in a hostel need to remember that they are NOT hotel rooms. You will be bunking with strangers, the rooms will be small, there is no daily maid service, and you will have to share a toilet and shower. However, you will meet many nice people and have a really fun time.

"Our stay in Bray"
We loved our stay in Bray just outside of Dublin. The Martello was very nice and centrally located. The beach was beautiful and the weather was great. The pub outside the hotel had great food and great view. It was easy to get to Dublin on the DART. I would go back again. Loved it!

The Royal Marine Hotel

Marine Road, Dun Laoghaire - Map

"One of our favourite places to stay."
We always stay at the Royal Marine when we are down in Dun Laoghaire for the Mountains to Sea and Poetry Now Festivals - presently in September and next year in March. We have learned to book early since it is popular that it books up quickly. I love the grandness of it and its position overlooking the harbour and the sea. It is incredibly convenient - we come from Belfast, take the Dublin Port Tunnel and then travel along the coast to Dun Laoghaire. If I'm going down on my own I take the train to Connolly and then the Dart out and it is easy and safe. The borough itself - Dun Laoghaire Rathdown is great supporter of the arts so you feel that you are at home when you arrive. The hotel is within minutes from the Pavillion Theatre and now the beautiful new Lexicon Library which has also opened the hotel up again to the front. When new flats enroached on its gardens years ago it was sad but it seems somehow restored to grandeur now between the modern buildings. As well as the wonderful Victorian pier there are also beautiful walks to Sandycove, Joyce's Tower, The Forty-Foot bathing place and so on and a selection of lovely restaurants on 'the metals' - the area on the front of the coast - so called because of the old metal tracks used to bring building materials into the town. There are also some great shops including Meadow and Byrnes and a very good children's section in Easons minutes from the hotel.
