“Staff always go the extra mile”

From the moment we arrived we knew that we had made a great choice. The staff are extremely attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The dining experience in Marrakech the Morrocan restaurant was just first class - the waiter was friendly and made great recommendations. Our deluxe room was roomy and comfortable - the only thing that is missing is a mirror close to a power socket. Breakfast buffet was included and was excellent - try to get a deal that includes this and you won't need lunch! The pool area is gorgeous and the staff look after you like royalty. Iced water and cold towels were very welcome. Arriving at the airport on our way home my friend realised she had left her mobile phone in the room and the hotel sent the phone to the airport in a limousine charging approx £20. Would highly recommend this hotel - you need to take a taxi to get everywhere but these are very inexpensive.

Area recommendations

Downtown Dubai is a brilliant place to stay -great shopping and restaurants, the beautiful Dubai Fountain, the amazing Burj Khalifa and not too far from the beach.

“Great Hotel in Dubai!!!”

Going to Dubai on a business trip April 2011 I had thousands of hotels to choose from, but I still wanted to go to a Shangri-La because I know exactly what a great stay and service I get there. The location is great if you for example want to combine Deira gold soukh and city centre mall, karama etc with the Dubai Mall and fountain area. This hotel also has one of the best clubs in town; the Ikandy, with a friendly staff, they serve snack food and shisha, blended with lounge style music from a DJ. Remember dress code, many rich locals drop by here. The pool is also so great with a beautiful view of the mighty Burj Khalifa. If you are up for some more luxury book the Club Horizon and you can swim almost on the top floor, and there is a secret spot on top with a few sunbeds around 300m above the ground. The view of the city at night up here is simply amazing!

“Elegant base to explore Dubai”

Centrally located and within easy walking distance (5 mins) of the metro system, the Shangri-La Hotel was an excellent base from which to visit Dubai. Staff at the hotel were attentive and very helpful, particularly in helping me get taxis to take me to specific addresses (not malls!) in the Emirate. Just behind the Shangri-La is a supermarket and this was useful for emergency supplies (plasters, suncream etc). Definitely recommend and would stay here again (solo female business traveller)

“One of Dubai's better offerings”

Our stay in Shangri La was satisfying overall, the hotel had what you would expect from a good quality 4 star hotel. Clean rooms and good service. Our friends had their anniversery during the trip, the hotel arranged a complimentary cake at very short notice, that in view is top notch service. There are a few cafe's near the hotel too, and a short drive will take you to many of the best malls and attractions Dubai has to offer. My only negative comment was that the hotel was located near an intersection that is undergoing major work.

Madinat Jumeriah, Dubai mall and Mall of Emirates are only a short drive away, all are must visits.

“Good Business Hotel”

Well located on Sheikh Zayed Road, and good for the business traveller.

Area recommendations

Middle of the office districts and near to the office all the Malls and Gold Souk. Good for Dubai International and Sharjah airport. Good pool on the 4th floor.

“in my Dubai top 10 hotel list”

Efficient, prompt and convenient location. If you have seen Dubai before, you'll appreciate the loaction and convenience more than most. If you are visiting for the first time, then this hotel is convenient for getting around town conveniently.

Getting around

The Metro station is a short walk and provides a convenient alternative to getting around. The hotel also seems to have an endless supply of cabs parked close by.

“great Dubai hotel”

I know Dubai is a building site, but, for the time being at least, the Shangri-la does not suffer with this problem. I couldn't fault the service nor the room we had, which was on the 30th floor.I ordered ice one night to take a drink, and from that day on,Ice was in our room every evening, along with complimentary fresh fruit and water. The staff are superb ( especially the concierge) and are always very friendly and courteous. We didn't eat in the hotel ( breakfast especially is very expensive ) but what we saw looked good. Fantastic bars, especially 'Ikandy ' which opens every evening out by the pool. A great holiday,which was enhanced by the rooms and staff at the Shangri-la. Would recommend for adults only though.

Traveller's tip

'Frankies ' at the Dubai Marina is a great Italian restaurant ( was actually voted the best in Dubai whilst we were in it; much celebrating going on ), and the Double Decker bar is great value for the traditional Friday Brunch.
