“Great Location”

The Ibis is in a great location 5 mins from the train station and 5 to 10 mins to all the sights. There are also lots of shops surrounding the hotel and the area feels safe to walk around at night. The rooms are small but we were offered an upgrade at a discount price so as we were staying for 6 nights we took the appartment which was very spacious and comfortable. Overall I would recommend this hotel for a stay in Dresden.

Area recommendations

The Alstadt has all the sights and some very good restaurants

Getting around

The trains run frequently to other towns to explore and there is a very good tram system in Dresden, although most major sights are within walking distance of the hotel

“Close to the train station and clean”

This was quite a pleasant surprise since the price was low and I had not been to this hotel before. The hotel seemed well run, was extremely clean and in an ideal location. The train station is about 5-8 minutes away by foot . The breakfast buffet was excellent and included both hot and cold items. The equipment in the room seemed quite new. The only drawback were that the ceiling is lower than typical American size hotel room and the bathroom is a bit cramped. But overall it was a nice stay during my weeks in Europe.

“Dresden visit”

We chose this hotel because of the location near the rail station, and also previous experience of what to expect from Ibis hotels. Good location, comfortable room, clean and tidy, and a competitive price. Just what we expected. Did not use the hotel restaurant as we chose to eat out. On the Sunday evening this was difficult as Dresden seems to close down early. But we found a good pizza place nearby.

Area recommendations

All the old city. It is small and easily accessed on foot. Go to the large park. Good relaxing area. We used the day pass for transport, costs very little for a couple, and covers all the trams, a discount on the river boat, and various museum entries. The river boat trip is good, with an excellent commentary in German and English. I braved the cold to stand on the top deck and get better photos of buildings and bridges.

Getting around

Buy the day pass for the transport systems. Usually very cheap and often provides discounts or free entry for various other places.

“location”

the room I had was fine, the bed a bit hard but to some that is fine. location is great just a few hundred metres from the main train station. lots of places to grab a bit to eat. the onlz disappointed with the Ibis hotel was the front desk staff seemed a bit gruff other than one lady and simple extras like water in the room, wifi or internet were rather dear.

When to go

try not to go on their October holiday weekend. everything is booked solid. if possible take a side trip to Seiffen and enjoy all the nutcrackers and other xmas ornaments carved locally. have your picture taken with a life sided nutcracker. recommend a car to get there and print off imap directions on how to get there. Seiffen is a short drive from Freiberg.

“A hotel where everything worked!”

The three Ibis hotels, built when Dresden was East Germany, were renovated and quite comfortable "business" hotels. Internet did not work well in the hotel room, but one of the two computers in the lobby was always available. For those who like to walk and compare the endless shopping malls with the marvelous old buildings nearer the Elbe - opera, churches, museums - was a good hike which we took daily. And, bakeries everywhere, open for early breakfast, as well as some of the best gelato in Europe made walking into some neighborhoods (where some of the war damaged buildings were rebuilt) ideal. Walking back to the hotel after the opera was safe...no problems since the streets and malls were well lit.

“Great hotel in the middle of town!”

Staff was super friendly, great location and great price. Would definitely stay here again. Beds were a little on the firm side but thats a minor quibble. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

“Das Ibis Hotel Königstein ist weiter zu empfehlen.”

Super Hotel für ein paar tage in Dresden. Sehr gute Lage, viele Shoppingmöglichkeiten, die schon am Eingang des Hotels anfangen.. Frühstücksbuffet sehr lecker und ausreichend. Immer wieder eine Reise wert.
