“Location beats style!”

While the room is out of date and quite small, the service was great, the location is unbeatable and for the low price why would you stay anywhere else? I stayed here for one night. It is easy walking distance to the train station and the picturesque centre of town.

“Excellent Hotel”

Good location near the train station.Short walk to the old town.Efficient helpful staff. Super clean and very quiet small room . Air conditioning worked well. A nonsmoking hotel. Excellent value and would definately stay there again.

“Very basic but good location and reasonable price”

The hotel is "USSR style", rooms are very basic and small. Beds are quite stiff. There is no restaurant in the hotel but a few are located nearby. Location is great, very close to all Dresden attraction (about 15 min walk) and to the railway station (3 min walk). Would recommend it for a short overnight stay.

Area recommendations

Dresden art gallery, Meissen- beautiful small town and famous porcelain factory/museum. The best way is by ship from Dresden (departs in the morning from the place close to the art gallery) and back by train.

“Short stay in Dresden”

The hotel matched the web description and aligned with other people's reviews. We needed a clean and safe place to stay for two nights while sightseeing during the day. We did not plan to spend much time in the room except to sleep. The rooms were very small but clean and quiet. We felt safe in the hotel and surrounding area. It was ideally located near the train station and easy walking distance to museums. I think the mattress was exceptionally firm so I was not as comfortable the first night. We bought coffee at the hotel restaurant and it was priced about the same as the surrounding coffee options. We found other breakfast options just down the street.

The museums and palace were fantastic.

“charming reception, chaotic breakfast”

this is a chain hotel providing exactly what you expect. excellent location,well situated for the railway station. the receptionist couldn't have been more charming when allowing us to check-in early. the only negative was the overcrowded, chaotic breakfast room - the hotel was extremely busy over a Christmas market weekend, and the hotel management did respond on the final morning by opening extra facilities in a first floor function suite. however if not able to get a breakfast inclusive rate, i would probably not pre-book breakfast if returning as there are plenty of other options within walking distance.

“No complaints”

Clean rooms, great breakfast, good location, helpful staff, not too expensive.

Area recommendations

The old town of course for all the Baroque buildings. The Neustadt district for a more bohemian, arty night. Take a cycle ride along the river to the Blue Bridge.

“Nice Hotel, Good Location”

very good location, almost at the center of the shopping district in Dresden. Everything is within short walking distance. Friendly staff. The only bad thing about the hotel is the elevator service - 300+ room served by 3 small elevators. Incidentally the situation at Ibis Hotel in Vienna is identical in this regard. No other complaints what-so-ever.

“Handy location, good breakfast and cheap”

Good place if you want a convenient location between station and old town, perfectly satisfactory room and service, good buffet breakfast. Would happily go back.

“OK - Rooms FAR too small”

This is one of three identical Ibis hotels within 100 yards of each other. They are 10 storey 1960's style boxes, very ugly looking. The rooms are far too small, the bathroom also too small. Consequently rooms are unpleasant, and we spent as little time as possible in the room. Breakfast was included in our rate, and was surprisingly good. Fresh fruit, and the usual German style breakfast. Hotel is about 10 minutes slow walk to the centre of the city, so is well placed. But when we come to Dresden again, we won't be staying at the Ibis.

Area recommendations

Dresden is a great city. The main centre just south of the river is lovely. The area around the Frauenkirche is just wonderful,, surrounded by bars and restaurants. The shopping centre futher south (but only minutes) is a brand new complex, if you like shopping!! Further south and it becomes a bit East German, ie. the Ibis Hotels, and ugly blocks of 1960's flats. However, all in all, I think Dresden is fantastic and would whole-heartily recommend for a city break.
