This is a very special 5-star hotel. Standing at the entrance gate of this former palace, the Dresden Opera House (Semperoper) and the Zwinger palace are right next door. High ceilings with beautiful crown moldings decorate the hallways and rooms. Our room had an extra half bath—a first. Service was immaculate.

Lovely pool Well situated very close to simper Oper and zwinger This is a luxury hotel you get what you pay for On arrival by car one is met the bags are taken the car is parked and three minutes later the bags arrive in the room Lavish but expensive breakfast but there are cheaper cafes nearby I stay here whenever in Dresden because it is so nice Strongly recommended to anyone who can afford the upper end of the hotel market

It felt like it was a private home. so quiet and elegant but so near to everything. The food at Kastemeirs was just superb. We didn’t try anywhere else! Just superb.

Overall great hotel, but bad bed.
The hotel itself was great. The staff was nice, the location was ideal, and there were lots of restaurants and bars. The room was also nice, and very clean. The only thing that wasn't on par with the hotel and cost was the bed. Probably the worst we've ever had at a 4 or 5 star hotel. Overall still worth it though.

I only stopped at this hotel for one night on the way from Belgium to Poland. I drove 800km that day with my cat and was super tired. When I arrived it was raining like crazy, I pulled in front of the hotel and there was no one there to direct me where to park. I called the reception desk and was told that I have to drive somewhere else to find a parking. I asked if someone could help me because I had a lot of luggage plus a cat and it was raining. I was told no but at the parking someone will help me. It took me a while to locate the parking (27euro per night!) and of course there was no one there to help me. I got my huge suitcase, my hand bag, a bag for the cat, the cat and a litter and with all that crap had to walk to the hotel. I was unhappy. This isn't some road side motel, this is Kempinski after all!

Beautiful hotel right in the middle of Dresden. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Being a Gold member with Expedia I qualified for a free room upgrade and the room was amazing. The 35 euro breakfast buffet for 1 is a bit pricey but there are tons of great restaurants within a 5 min walk. I would definitely stay here again and I highly recommend this hotel.

Excellent place. Staff was very professional and helpful and knowledgeable of the area. Room was fabulous. Even with the Covid-19 situation breakfast was excellent. It is a great place to stay. If it was not for my available points of over 3000, I probably would not have stayed here as it could get expensive. I highly recommend this place if you can afford It.

Not a 5* atmosphere at all. No greating when we entered (several times). We had to wait for check-in because all the staff were busy talking to each other or doing something on their computers. In the lobby were cheap banners standing around from a company that were holding a conference. Checking in was like in a youth hostel, most importantly their go green policy was explained: magazines are available on a webpage (what an Innovation) and no turn down service by default. The room was OK, the furniture got long in the tooth. I can't remember when I had such a slow WiFi connection the last time. The building is nice and professionally renovated. It's OK to stay there but don't expect a 5* service.

It's a lovely hotel which is convenient for the Semperoper. The room (at the very back) was good. The staff are great especially at the Bistro. I could have done without the huge bath and would have preferred a huge shower instead! Also, at check-in everyone around me was upgraded with views of the opera house. What had I done wrong?

I should have requested to be able to check in around 1:00 pm when I made the reservation. Unfortunately, at 1:00 pm, I had to put some pressure on the front desk staff in order to accelerate the check in because I was attending the Semper Oper across the road at 3:00 pm on that day. I never got my room until 2:00 pm.

The staff was ambivalent at best, unhelpful at worst. Waiting in line for help from reception was a challenge as people were constantly jumping the queue and the staff seemed to take perverse pleasure in the arguments ensuing. This system is why we waited 20 minutes to check out. If there was some sort of benefit with Expedia we never saw it.

Excellent staff. Concierge Markus most helpful w tours and local dinners. Beds were uncomfortable as they were just 2 twins pushed together w no queen sheet and wood frames separating.
