“Nice hotel in good location”

Good value for walking distance to all sights in downtown Dresden (the main reason we had picked the hotel). 5-10min walk gets you to the Frauenkirche and Der Zwinger. The hotel is upscale, well kept, friendly staff and we had a very god stay. (Only downside, if you're looking for one: no free parking, but the rates (on public metered spaces or garages) are reasonable with 7-10Euro/24h, therefore affordable.)

“Bit too corporate for tourists”

Perfectly okay hotel, but it's a bit off the tourist route; more suited for conferences (clearly a speciality). Internet connection was pricey (it's inclusive at most 3 star hotels here), and no free mineral water (unlike cheaper hotels). Breakfast also very expensive, which is particularly irritating as it's quite a hike to find an alternative due to the hotel's location. I am sure it's perfect for conferences. Oh, and my shower was a bit too wobbly for a decent hotel.

Area recommendations

Aldstadt, near the fabulous Baroque buildings and close to the restaurants. This hotel's location wasn't good.

“Good value, would stay again”

Nice, clean hotel, with helpful and friendly staff. rooms are moderate size, recently updated, relatively well appointed. small fitness center (aerobic equipment only) and pool/jacuzzui. location is in an area just off the town center, surrounded by some older soviet era buildings (i.e., not much to look at from the windows). Still, to the historic city center, its just 10 minutes by foot, and a few minutes by tram, which stops just in front of the hotel.

“Very Helpful Staff”

The Dorint in Dresden is a very lovely hotel with a very helpful staff who are fluent in English. Location is good, withing walking distance of the city historic center. And one of the tour buses stops just outside the hotel entrance. There was also a terminal near the front desk for travelers to check email and it was quite private, which was very nice. Internet access was complimentary. The only negative was that breakfast cost an additional 16 euros ($24.00 with the exchange rate at the time). We never had breakfast in the hotel and had to hike a ways to find a restaurant offering breakfast. However, I would still recommend the hotel.

We traveled via Euro City train from Vienna to Dresden and it was a very scenic ride, particularly when we entered the Elbe River Valley.

“Recommended hotel”

Location good, service desk very helpful, and I was particularily happy with the room. If you can get a room at a reduced rate, or get them to throw in breakfast grab it!

“Pick another one”

Our room was very clean and nice, but the room was located above the lounge. The music was non-stop at night. The hotel was booked 8 months in advance. We contacted the front desk to change rooms but they were no help. The indoor pool is ice cold. We do not recommend using the sauna at this hotel. The food at the restaurant was very good, but the service was extremely slow. Over all the staff at the hotel was not at all helpful.

Short walk to Old Town of Dresden. Short cab to train Station. Dresden is a beautiful place.

Thanks for your comment. I can only say "I´m sorry!" - during your stay with us, there was a party on our banquetting floor and so it was a lit bit louder than normally. If you come again and visit us, we can show you the normality.

Tageskarte für öffentlichen Nahverkehr; Dresdencard lohnt sich nur beim Besuch von mind. 3 Musumsbesuche/Tag.

“Hotel liegt 10 Gehminuten vom Zentrum entfernt”

Service und Sauberkeit lassen kaum Beanstandungen zu, durch die zentrumsnahe Lage sind lediglich die Zimmer zur Rückseite etwas ruhiger, Wellnessbereich verspricht auf den Fotos mehr (sehr klein)
