In Victoria , if you want to be close to everything, the Capital City Center is is the areas BEST BARGAIN!! Close to the Empress Hotel , yet quiet at night. Rooftop bar and pool (heated) are a fun addition to your stay. Breakfast onsite was hot , delicious, and discounted to hotel guests. (.Felt safe at the hotel, however after dark, there seemed to be more homeless folks in the Empress/downtown area. Just something to be aware of for families with small children.) Weather and attractions were wonderful. Lots of shops within walking distance. Beds were comfortable and windows open to allow cool breezes into the room. All in all, a very pleasant stay.
The room was not quite ready by 4pm, but the staff was more than accommodating. They ensured that we were taken care of in the pub. All of our groceries were stored and brought up to our room when we entered. The Chef had also noticed that we were making pasta that evening and left us a plate of various spices for our meal. They really went above and beyond. Hugh had taken care of us at the front desk and was more than helpful throughout the day with any requests that we had. The 2 bedroom suite we had was spacious and comfortable. It was perfect for the 5 of us. It did not feel like a hotel, but rather it felt like we were at home. Highly recommend it to anyone who would like a more homely stay.
Beford Hotel was a very pleasant surprise. Had expected it may be run-down, but was very clean and had a nice "British" small hotel feel to it. Room was very nicely outfitted, quiet, and the location was ideal for strolling to see the major sights. Also very close to nice restaurants and adjacent to excellent tea and scone eatery.
This was the most beautiful hotel - so clean and we were upgraded for some reason in our room and it was the amazing. Very clean and the service was excellent. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful .
It is an older hotel but clean and the staff are very accommodating Some things were not working like the pool was closed. The first room I had smelled of smoke but they were quick to change me to one that didn't smell. Parking was good and it was nice and close to every amenity. No air conditioning though but they did supply us with a very good fan. A bit noisy as the people overhead were pretty lead footed. Halls were noisy till quite late.
Just stayed 3 days to visit old stomping grounds from 50 years ago. The Helms is located by the waterfront near the Natural History Museum. I walked to most of the sites nearby and ate at nearby restaurants, most recommended by the front desk staff. I had to drive 10 minutes for one visit, but mostly walked around. The old floors seemed to creak when people walked overhead, but it gave the building character. Nice patio outside, but that was where the smokers went and some would drift into my room. I am not allergic, but kind of annoying. Not sure if there was an elevator, but the stairs were easy to climb.
