Everything about this hotel is beautiful: the rooms, the view, the decor, the art. The pool is especially wonderful and may possibly be the highlight. The staff were super friendly and helpful. One piece of advice though, call ahead and let them know if you need to arrive late.
If you're looking for a 5 star hotel this is not the place for you. This is a cozy and quaint hotel in the middle of the down town Puerto Vallarta. Location is just a block off the malecon. Great food north or south. Beds were comfortable, bathroom was clean. Rooms looked same as pics online. I can say the towels and bed sheets were stained but they were not dirty smelling. Air conditioning worked wonderfully. We were very pleased with our three night stay. It was a little weird that in the stair well they kept extra mattresses, but we figured they set up second beds in single bedroom rooms with these mattresses. We had a double queen room and this is what they did for our room. Re arranged the furniture to fit in two queen beds. It was a tight squeeze but we didn't go to Puerto Vallarta to sit around in our hotel room. It served it's purpose. The pool was clean and refreshing. The restaurant was not good, only ate there once and will review separately. Wifi was iffy... in and out but was free. No complaints overall. Friendly staff and we had nothing stolen.
I stayed in room 307 there suite and was not disappointed. The room was clean and spacious for just myself. The wifi and the air worked great. Breakfast every morning was definitely a plus. The hotel is in a good spot as far as the beach and the maleceon being only a few blocks away. Already making plans to stay at this hotel again in a few months. Great for the location and price.
We enjoy being near the downtown area and if you speak a little Spanish and are tired of the resort's it is a great place to be . There are numerous fair to excellent restaurants within walking distance and near a nice beach
The location of this hotel is one it's most Charming features,The view was wonderful.we stayed in room 40.it had a double sliding glass door's that opened to an ocean/city view.it also over looked the pool.we had a small kitchen with all the amenities.the maid service was excellent.the desk was very helpful. The only "small complaints" the wi-fi was only available in the lobby.and the room really could have used air conditioning.(it did have a large ceiling fan over the bed) and the front desk asked if we would like a fan.and brought it to us.(great service in my opinion)
The Suites Plaza Del Rio is ideally located right behind Hotel Encino, next to the Cuale River and within easy walking distance to all of the restaurants and shops and happenings on the Maleon. Though it is close to the market, it was adequately quiet. Though there was no air conditioning, the space was great. Would suggest getting one of the corner units (as we had), as they have a narrow but long wraparound balcony and the corner units let it more light. The kitchen/living area was spacious as was the bedroom and had two bathrooms which was very convenient. The fans worked if you were directly beneath them (one over bed and one in dining/kitchen area) but towards the end of our stay it was quite warm and humid, and when you moved away from the fans, it was uncomfortable. Regarding cleanliness, the maid came every day with clean towels and changed the sheets. Though she swept and mopped every day, additional attention needs to be paid to tabletops, counter area and showers. Staff were accommodating. Most importantly to know is that there is no signage for this hotel, and our driver had not heard of it and could not locate it. He finally did so by calling the phone number on our documentation. All guests must check in at Hotel Encino, next door. THERE IS NO REFERENCE TO THIS IN THE DOCUMENTATION. Suites Plaza Del Rio does not have a swimming pool BUT does have one small child's pool (1 foot deep) and two small circular sitting pools.
Pocket Guide: Puerto Vallarta Downtown Puerto Vallarta Hotels
Downtown’s cobblestone streets lead to historic landmarks, such as La Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. A crown tops this church’s bell tower, a lasting reminder of the short-lived Mexican monarchy. By the water, Triton dons a sombrero atop a seahorse. Downtown is also known for art galleries, Museo Arqueológico, and Casa Kimberly, once a love nest for Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.
