Stayed two weeks and have only praise for the hotel and its staff. Everything works exceptionally well. Certainly the best part of the experience was with the helpful and friendly staff - most notably Lucia. Clean, breakfast good, reasonably priced, and close to Central part of the city. Not a single criticism. Note: neighborhood not for late night wandering.
Stayed for 11 nights with my girlfriend, (she is Uruguayan and lives locally).
Room was well presented and clean.
Pool facilities were lovely although floor was DANGEROUSLY slippery.
Breakfast was great! It wasn't the same everyday, there were new additions throughout our stay.
However I emailed the hotel ahead of my stay to ask if my girlfriend would be entitled to take advantage of the free breakfast and I was told that she would be, however this was not the case and I had to pay an additional $100 at the end of my stay.
Maid service was excellent.
All in all a good hotel and reasonably priced, I hope to stay again in future.
Staff was really friendly and helpful. Rooms are top of the notch, as well as their restaurant and room service food. By the way, they have a great view from their restaurant, and when booking a room be sure that you so on a high floor and on the back side of the hotel (looking to the old city and the port).
"Decent place to stay but lacking in a few areas."
Staff very friendly. Room was acceptable. However we noticed the towels we left were occasionally not replaced by fresh ones. Also there was a significant mold problem on the ceiling of the bathroom which grew over the three days we were there indicating a water leak in the room above. The room was OK but showed that maintenance could have been a bit better on small things. Certainly worth the price and we would stay there again, but not for a longer time.
The capital of Uruguay is a lively city and justifiably popular with tourists. Sleek new architecture like the futuristic airport sits easily alongside the faded colonial splendor of the old town, while the city's cultural life is exemplified by its many bars, clubs and theatres. Stroll along the Rambla at sunset, sip a cocktail at a beach bar, or tuck into a chivito--the local sandwich.
