We were in Kansas City to see "Once" at the Kaufmann Performing Arts Center and decided on this hotel for a good location, near the venue. We were beyond pleased with our stay in the Sheraton. The hotel is classy and the area is vibrant. So much to take in and appreciate. Our stay was a "5" across the board.
We had a beautiful view of downtown Kansas City but the dirty windows were a distraction. The pool area had windows between the pool and hot tub and they were also filthy. We couldn't check in to our second room until around 5:30 on a Thursday night. We had tickets to the Royals game so that was cutting it pretty close. The staff were friendly. It's a fun location hooked right onto the mall. We'd stay there again.
"Accommodations nice, but bad experience at checkin"
I booked two rooms (requested connecting) for my daughter's bachelorette party (7 people). I checked in early at 2:15 pm and was given two connecting rooms (1710-1711), but the front desk clerk said that 1711 wasn't cleaned yet and I could come down later and pick up the keys for that room. That was fine since we only needed one room to decorate to have a little lingerie party before heading out to a winery. When we left for the winery, room 1711 still was not cleaned and they told me to just pickup the keys when we returned. Well, 3 hours later, I stopped by the front desk and long story short, was told that 1711 had been given to another guest and they did not have any more connecting rooms available. Needless to say this was very irritating since the whole point of our bachelorette party was to have everyone able to be in two rooms and come and go from each without hassle. The front desk told me they could get me two connecting rooms in the Muehlebach Tower, so begrudgingly we gathered all our bags, decorations, etc. and moved over to a whole other building. When we walked in the first room, it was fine, but the second room only had one king bed and obviously that did not fit our party size. Once again, I walked all the way back to the front desk and asked for a manager and eventually we were moved (again) back to the first tower and given two rooms next to each other, but not connecting. Finally, after 9:00 pm we were able to go to dinner and start our evening.
We booked our original trip and decided to add an extra night. Our first hotel was full so we added the Aladin because it was inexpensive. We absolutely loved it! The staff was wonderful and the room was excellent. It was very clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated. We will definitely continue to stay there in our future trips to KC.
I stayed at the Hilton President for my Bachelorette party and it was absolutely amazing! The concierge Paul was by far the most helpful person we came in contact with. He seemed genuinely excited for me and concerned with the groups overall experience in Kansas City, because of his outstanding service and concern I will forever be a Hilton guest. Please let him know how much I appreciated all of his help and service this weekend.
