"Walking distance to the stadiums and restaurants."
Was here for one night during a Red's game weekend. The line for check in was the only bad thing about my stay as the line was absolutely crazy and they should have had a few extra people working. Everything else was fine as we were not really at the hotel very long except to sleep and shower.
This was an amazing hotel experience. The hotel had a historic feel and beautiful decor (chandeliers, winding stair cases, a lot of marble and brass, beautiful and nostalgic (Cinci) artwork. Our room was great. It was the King deluxe with a lot of seating space and a huge bathroom. The room felt like it was a guest home. The location of the hotel was walking distance of the riverfront (stadiums, restaurants) and trendy areas like Over the Rhine. Around the corner literally was Fountain square. I wish we could have stayed longer.
The hotel is conveniently located close to many Cincinnati attractions. We enjoyed the Fountain Square salsa dancing experience and the bonus of watching the Reds game on the jumbo screen on the Square.
The Hilton Netherland Plaza hotel has an interesting historical background. The Art Deco decor is exciting. The restaurant and bar are elegant. However the rooms (or a least ours) need(s) up grading. The room was small, the furniture was eclectic and dowdy, the A.C. and bathroom plumbing was noisy. The noise from neighboring rooms was disturbing (plumbing and talking). Following a long day of touring, we returned at 4:00 in the afternoon, ready for a nap - the room was still not cleaned.
However, I do want to compliment the very pleasant and accomodating staff!
We loved everything about the hotel, the staff, cleanliness. The one thing that could be better was the breakfast buffet. The "omelets " were awful. By the time we got down mostly everything was gone. No pastries, no fruit, no yogurt, ran out of coffee. Very disappointing.
Cincinnati is a major sports town. The Cincinnati Reds (baseball) play at the Great American Ballpark and the Cincinnati Bengals (football) play at Paul Brown Stadium. An architecturally significant city, Carew Tower—an example of French art deco—is Cincinnati's tallest building. The Cincinnati Art Museum houses a fascinating collection of works from all over the world.
