From the outside it doesn't look great, bout once inside you have to remember it is a hostel. Keeps the cost low, a small compact room, with a decent shower, TV and Internet connection. Secure digital locks and a small spar over the road to buy a simple microwave meal to put in the communal kitchen with microwave and basic facilities but all you need. It was clean, most people had put their washing up into the dishwasher and biscuit supply was refilled. Don't forget your own milk though if you like it in your tea or coffee. It all means that you literally only have to pay for the cost of the room as you don't need to go out and spend a fortune on going out for a meal. Perfect for a stop over before the ferry. We didn't use the continental breakfast as we left early, but I am sure it would stick to the same kind of theme. We'd stay again.
To celebrate my wife's birthday and her desire to visit the castle we came across this highly recommended venue. We were not disappointed and were treated to the best room in the house as an upgrade. Excellent furnishings and a discreet but friendly host made our short stay very enjoyable. Whilst only there for two days we would have gladly have stayed longer had the occasion required it.

I stayed at west bank guesthouse for one night as I had an early morning ferry to catch. I phoned a couple of days before to get directions and found the staff very helpful. The guest house itself felt very homely and the room was clean and the bed comfortable. Shared bathroom facilities were not a problem and were well maintained. Breakfast was very tasty and worth the £6.50.
We were met with a great welcome and very well looked after during our one night stay. The owners are really nice people, they gave us good advice regarding restaurants and sightseeing and they booked the taxi to take us to the cruise ship terminal. Our room was lovely with sea view. We slept well and enjoyed our breakfasts. The breakfast was served in an ocean view room and was very tastefully set, and quite delicious There is no elevator, but Robert, the Manager, helped us with our luggage. The whole hotel has wonderful character and charm, and I would definitely recommend it.
Travelling from Devon to Eastern France with a family of 3 and 2 dogs! We needed to find somewhere to break the journey with an overnight stop before the early morning ferry across. Did a Google for dog friendly B&B's and this one popped up. 2 dogs and a Thomas (our son) no problem, just off the A20 and a 10 minute drive to the port in the morning! Rates were good too! So we thought why not? And what a little gem it turned out to be! Lovely location, great house and a fabulous couple running it. Nothing was too much trouble, even down to a 'flexible' breakfast time in the morning so we could get away for the ferry. The house is located in a huge area of open land, which we later found out was where the channel tunnel workers village was during construction. Now fortunately returned to countryside, the dogs were in heaven. They could charge around til their hearts content without worrying about cars and traffic - wonderful.
The rooms were very clean and cosy, although my one (little) gripe would be that the family rooms aren't en-suite, it's a communal bathroom down the hall. But other than that minor inconvenience, it was a very welcome and enjoyable stay. So much so that we booked it for the return trip too!
Very enjoyable stay. A little far from Dover for walking into, definitely need transport. Bus service close and easily accessible tho...and Crabbel Hill Village very easy walking distance. (One route does have a bit of a hill and is poorly lit at night, but very pretty in the daytime)
