“Perfect for what I needed”

The Tryp was perfect for what I was looking for. I wanted a clean, convenient place to sleep. It is easy walking from TU-Dortmund and the train . The room was small but clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. I would have liked to have wireless internet in the room, though internet access can be purchased and used at workstations in the lobby. The only drawback I see is that eating or shopping in the area is lacking. I really liked the Tryp

The hotel was very good, cheap but very stylish, very friendly staff and has easy means of transport surrounding. I would definatly stay in their hotels again.

The hotel staff was very helpful and courteous and spoke English well. The hotel restaurant was excellent. The breakfast buffet that was included with the room was the most complete and satisfying breakfast I have ever eaten in a hotel restaurant. The room was spotless! My only complaint was that my phone never worked for outside calls. I was able to use the lobby phone to make the calls needed, so everything else outweighed this one negative.

“Clean and basic... it's the best I can say”

This hotel is in the middle of nowhere. It's closest to the Dortmund Uni campus (10/15 mins walk) but otherwise surrounded by fields. Rooms are clean but basic. Futon style beds (which are comfortable if you like a firm mattress, as I do), small desk and wardrobe, good sized bathroom (with on-wall soap dispenser, no separate shampoo, conditioner, moisturiser etc). TV is a little on the small side (and the CNN channel didn't work - it was the only english speaking channel). Expedia rate is very good, but hotel says "it's a cheap rate so we can't offer anything more with it"... so you room will not even have tea & coffee making facilities. Restaurant is OK, but expensive. Buffett breakfast (which looked nothing special compared to north american buffetts) was EUR12. Internet (wireless) is available but expensive. Outgoing phone calls are also expensive.
