Pros: Helpful staff
Location: Close to main train station.
We walked about 800 meters from the train station only to find our room was not available. There had been water damage and they were fully booked due to football in town. They had arranged for us to stay at Hotel Speight which was lovely but not in the same class of hotel. They booked a taxi for us and paid for it which was great. The other hotel was quite a drive and there was no provision made to get us back to the train. Since I booked this hotel based on proximity to the train, this was very disappointing. The staff were helpful and the hotel foyer was attractive.

Not bad!

Posted 27-Jul-2014 on Hotels.com
This hotel was surprisingly cheap. when I arrived I got surprise with such a nice hotel but disappointment came very soon! first good things about this hotel: it is very clean, very nice, very helpful reception, has a great aquarium and location is perfect! but the bad things are: rooms has no air conditioning so you cant sleep at night in summers! beside that it is very noisy place, so if you open the window, then good luck with noise and traffic. anyways you can not sleep in this hotel! but the other thing, the price for this hotel is very good but dont forget it is an trap. they will charge you for every thing, for example the price of parking is half of the price of room! the water bottle in your room will charge you 4 euro... breakfast the same... anyways this hotel is uncomfortable for some people and good for some others. just check if it is good for you or not.

Comfortable hotel in centre of Dortmund

Posted 26-Jul-2014
Pros: Location, spacious room, comfortable bed.
Cons: Coffee/tea making facilities and a fridge in the room.
Location: Not much to do in Dortmund.
Good location close to town centre pedestrian area and railway station but a lot of traffic noise at night-time. We would have liked coffee/tea making facilities and a fridge in the room.

Fantastic Hotel

Loved this hotel. Room was fantastic, lobby and hotel were beautiful, staff was friendly and helpful, location was great, internet was great, all in all a great hotel, especially for the cost. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Dortmund, and would definitely stay here again.

Ideal for Dortmund central visit

The black marble which covers the Reception / Entrance area to this hotel gives a very grand impresssion. The actual experience of staying here is a little more basic but I enjoyed my stay here & I found it very good value. Location is very convenient simply exit the Hauptbahnhof turn right & follow the arc of the road & you're there. 5 mins from main station - U bahn stop is even nearer. I booked single room but seemed to end up with large double. Standout feature was large bathroom with large bathtub & shower which was very welcome. Cleanliness was excellent. Large double bed was quite firm but was fine for me but may not suit everybody. The road outside is very busy & light sleepers may have problems. I was on 4th floor & slept well both nights I was there. Buffet breakfast was ok but a little basic nevertheless probably worth 9.99 euro by hotel standards. Only negatives no minbar or fridge in room & was asked for payment immediately on arrival & was not allowed a tab at bar to pay upon leaving. There is no real food on offer outside of breakfast, However the Pfefferkorn restaurant adjoins the hotel & it overlooks one end of Westenhellweg so there's plenty of options nearby. Overall I would certainly recommend Unique Novum for a short city stay & I would certainly stay here again if & when in Dortmund.

Thoroughly enjoyable stay

Posted 07-May-2014 on Hotels.com
Stayed a Sunday night in Dortmund (bit of a mistake - the city is dead on a Sunday!!) but that cannot take away from how spectacular the hotel was when walking in. We almost walked past it assuming there was another hotel near it that was closer the the price we paid as this was too nice for what we paid! The room was very nice too. Sizeable bathroom (with his and hers sinks) and nice furnishings on the inside. The only downside was the poor selection of TV channels and a wierd doorstop that was right in front of the wardrobes so standing on it barefoot was extremely painful. Not the best planning on the hotel's part. Free haribo on the bed when we came in was a nice touch! Would definitely stay again if back in Dortmund. Location was easy to find - round the ring road from the central station and just across a road to the end of the main shopping street.
