Close to the beach.

Pros: Location. Breakfast
Cons: Waiter service in patio area. Modernisation.
Location: Beach
Superb patio area by beach but no waiter service at 6 pm. Overall it has a very dated feel about it but that is the norm in the region.

Dated Hotel in Great Location

Posted 11-Apr-2015
Pros: Staff, breakfast, cleanliness and comfort of room. Car parking space is very useful.
Cons: Dinner menu needs variety, toilets in reception needs work. General appearance from the fron is very dated and a little grubby.
Location: Corfe Castle, Swanage, Swanage Steam Railway, Monkey World and Poole.
Overall the Hotel looks and appears to be a little dated, but this shouldn't spoil an enjoyable break in the Sandbanks area. Great view of the sea from the balcony and room well equipped, comfortable and clean. Lift in slow and small. Toilets in the reception area were poor broken seat and broken hand dryer. Room needs a flannel to go with the towels. Staff are friendly and keen to help. We asked for a shoe cleaning kit at reception which is supposed to be available and given a small shoe shine pad the size of a postage stamp. Breakfast menu great. Evening menu didn't change during our stay. Bar food selection ok but food was a little cold upon serving.

convenient location, nice views

Posted 06-Apr-2015
Pros: relaxed, friendly. comfortable
Exceptional wind/storm made our room very noisy, but the staff very readily moved us to a room on the other side of the hotel - very quiet - at no extra charge. Really nice of them.

Pros: Hotel in a good location. Staff helpful ,breakfast and dinning staff VERY good.
Cons: Hotel needs refurbished throughout !
Location: Good location, with lots to do.
We spent three nights at the Sandbanks hotel, we were disappointed with the condition of the hotel, it was really old and rundown and a little drab! Most carpets needed replacing. The entrance to the leisure spa was very depressing and in great need of refurbishment, therefore we didn't use these facilities.

Pros: Very clean and staff very friendly.
Cons: Reception on television very poor for 2015
Location: Location superb with a multitude of things to do all around.
Both in our late seventies and found the walk from lift to our room a long old haul. Heat could have been lower. Staff and accommodation superb.

Comfortable Hotel in a Good Location

Posted 22-Feb-2015
Pros: Liked: * Location * Views from Hotel * Free Parking at Hotel * Free WiFi (although connection hit and miss in our room)
Cons: Room service food. Heating/hot water pipes noisy at times
Location: Poole Quay Poole Potteries Bournemouth Mudeford Quay Sandbanks Ferry across the Harbour Entrance to allow you to explore the rest of Dorset
My wife and I stayed at the Sandbanks Hotel for a long weekend in Feb 2015, while visiting different parts of Dorset. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean, with a balcony overlooking Poole Harbour. For much of the time we were out all day exploring other areas of Dorset, so didn't use many of the other facilities at the hotel such as the indoor pool, the restaurant or the bar. All looked fine from what we saw. Sandbanks itself is a very affluent area and made for a very peaceful location, although I expect that in summer months the area would be extremely busy with day trippers. Nice to be able to step out of the hotel straight onto the long, sandy beach on one side or to Poole Harbour the other. Bournemouth is about a 10 mins drive from the hotel as is Poole Quay and Poole Potteries, which are worth a visit. Would also recommend Mudeford Quay, which is slightly further away. The only negative was the room service which we used on one occasion after returning late from a very long day out. We ordered the battered cod and were so disappointed when what arrived was clearly some sort of processed offering from a supermarket packet. Shame on the hotel, which is located on the coast and has its own restaurant/chef. Overall I enjoyed the stay and would happily stay here again (but would avoid the room service!)

Sorely in need of refurbishment

Posted 21-Feb-2015
Pros: The location.
Cons: Badly in need of a refurb. The choice and quality in the restaurant needs improving.
Location: Nice waterside location with great views. But no alternative restaurants in walking distance. Some good ones in Poole town centre though.
This is not a 4 star hotel. The best thing about it is the location, close to the water with very nice views across Poole harbour and over to Brownsea island. The staff were also all very friendly and pleasant, although the restaurant waiting staff seemed poorly trained. But the overall impression is that the place is very tired and in sore need of refurbishment. The carpets are worn and dirty, which is just about acceptable in the corridors but a pretty nasty experience in your room. The room furnishings and the bathroom fittings are all very basic and with a cheap feel. The bed was comfortable though! One drawback with the location is that there are no other restaurants or bars in walking distance. You won't want to eat in the restaurant more than you need to. Breakfast is perfectly fine. Dinner is not so great. There is a very limited choice and does not appear to be freshly cooked. Our food arrived so soon after ordering, less than 5 minutes, that it beat the wine and water to the table. Very simple fare, like a well cooked school meal. The restaurant manager is all charm and smiles as long as you say that everything is fine but if you question whether the food can really be freshly cooked and yet arrive in less than 5 minutes, you get told that he has 40 years experience in catering and that you don't know what you're talking about. Arrogance and complacency, I'm afraid. A single exception to otherwise very pleasant staff.
