Absolutely freaking awful.

Posted 30-Jun-2015
1. The staff don't care about you. -sat in room/cell on arrival and tried to phone reception for 45 minutes before going down to ask for an upgrade which we were just dismissed with "can't, no space" -went for breakfast once, and was treated like cattle. Approached by the waiter and the conversation went: "Room" _ "excuse me?" _ "I said what was your room number" _ "oh um, XXX" "what?" _ "...XXX" _ "okay go sit" -when we went to check out and said our room and surname, the woman at reception just said "alright thanks bye" , we paid before arrival so that's all she cared about. 2. The building itself is horrible. -the floorboards are horrific, all the way to the stairs with the worn carpets creaked tremendously. -some of the exterior windows had cracked peeled paint which made it look awful. -our room had no air conditioning so we had to sleep in the ridiculous heat. We couldn't get a breeze as our room, which looked out directly into a Land Rover and over to other cars, had the smallest windows I think possibly in the world, but there were no way of getting the wind so they, like the hotel, were obsolete. Honourable Mentions: 1. The one and only time we went for the mediocre breakfast, I had 3 hairs in my food all from a different buffet dish. 2. You. Are. Not. At. The. Beach. You may be subject to extension to get a room that looks onto the Channel, but apart from that you have no hope. The beach is a 2 minute walk down the road. They trick you. Don't stay here.

Pleasantly surprised

Posted 30-Jun-2015
Pros: The ambiance
Cons: Condition of the small club rooms really not suitable for paying guests.
Location: Excellent location in town near all Bournemouth's major attractions
We booked a last minute break to this hotel and didn't expect too much as we had been warned off using it but for what we paid through Expedia it was very good apart from the room which had no window and the bathroom flooring desperately needed refurbishing but the sheets were pristine and the room although very small had all we needed for the 3 days we were there. The food standard was very good for both breakfast and buffet dinner. The staff were very well trained and could not do enough for us. Leisure facilities were very good and the public areas very well kept and spacious with a relaxing ambience. Overall we were pleasantly surprised, just what we needed. The location is excellent right near beaches in the town. Lovely relaxing gardens. Downside is the parking problem as the hotel charges £20.00 a night to use theirs.

more conference and corporate

Posted 30-Jun-2015
Pros: Although the hotel was very dated and tired it was clean
Cons: Maintaining the rooms to a basic standard would be enough to start with and although it is a big hotel make the breakfast more appealing.
Location: Good location for the beach shops etc
We were early checking in and just dropped our luggage off but were told that we were not on their system but the receptionist said she would speak to her manager and we would get a room. What a room we got peeling wallpaper damp patch on the ceiling very cramped and small. The hotel is a lovely old building but very tired and only maintained in the front of house. The buffet breakfast was very basic and the fried eggs and bacon very uneatable. Tea and coffee were provided in thermos pots that were already waiting on the side. This hotel is not geared to holiday makers but for corporate and conference venue.

Great spa

Posted 24-Jun-2015
Pros: Good spa, included breakfast good, convenient for walking round shops and to beach
Cons: Better customer service, better attention to detail
Reception staff happier to talk amongst themselves about their next shift than serve customers waiting to check in. When I asked for feather pillows, I was informed that I should speak to Housekeeping from 9am the next morning! (we were only staying 1 night). Breakfast was good enough and waitressing staff helpful. There was a bag of empty supermarket bags on the bedside table and an empty shampoo container in the room when we arrived, otherwise it was clean enough.

Loud and run down

Posted 22-Jun-2015
When we arrived, there were no spots available to park. The hotel is run down and tired. The floors were squeaky. Worst of all, there were noisy partiers outside of the hotel until 4:00am. Very disappointed.

Been there several times but this time was really

Posted 13-Jun-2015
Pros: The staff were excellent, and the a la carte meal was very good
Cons: The noisy creaking floor boards
Location: I was not there long enough to look around.
the reception would not answer my calls ( 6) and two lasted over six minutes before to line went dead. finally booked via an agent. On arrival , reception forgot to book a car parking space, but it cost £20.00, my room was almost a cell, with a non see through window, bed was awful and room very noisy with people passing until the early hours.......it was also very warm.

Bad start

Posted 10-Jun-2015
Pros: Situation and room when sorted. Staff were very nice
We arrived and were given a very small room which took us a long time to find and down a very steep staircase at the back of the hotel. Clean and comfortable but not acceptable. On speaking to the Manager we were given free dinner that night in the inclusive restaurant, but it was not a very nice meal! The Manager promised to move us the next day as we were there two nights. True to his word we were given a nice sea view room very clean and comfortable. In general the Hotel was Ok and the Manager and staff very nice and polite.

Hotel near the beach

Posted 08-Jun-2015
The hotel is situated next to the beach , park is £20 for the hotel staff to park or £12.50 next door to the hotel We was first given a , two adult box room , to which I complained . We was then given a lovely room overlooking the beach . It was a lovely room I would go back , but I wouldn't recommend it . Also be aware of stag and hen parties

Disappointing in many ways

Posted 01-Jun-2015
Pros: Location
Cons: Reception and info on arrival. Where the room was. No offer of any help.
Location: Centre of front activities 10 mins to town centre
Reception was manned by staff who in our experience had issues. One was very busy "micro managing two computers"!!!! On booking in we were not informed where the rooms were. Despite their hidden location . With suitcases rooms with 200 + were dotted randomly. As a 200 room you would of thought the room was on the second floor. Foolish because ours was in the basement down a final precarious 17stairs which nearly resulted in an accident with our cases. On the return you needed crampons to get back up.! The room was clean but very small. It was below the level of the underground car park. The requirement to pay for the Pool was not explained in the booking. £4 PER person per visit when you are paying a premium price for the hotel seems inappropriate. Overall location is good but there are better hotels. E.G The Connaught.

Large white painted hotel, looked nice ,near the b

Posted 30-May-2015
Pros: Near to the beach
Cons: Quality and presentation of food. Needs a visit by Alex Polittizi the Hotel Inspector
Location: Did not go out at night
Went to meet friends who were holidaying in a nearby hotel. On arrival told £20 per night to park car at hotel,(nice welcome), Room clean, double bed, not room to swing a cat. To me seemed like a double bed in a room for a single bed with one chair
