Great location, but poor hotel

Posted 22-Jul-2014
Room was extremely small and very hot! No AC There where much better rooms in the hotel but we couldn't get one, refused to move us and we knew there where empty rooms, one very small lift for huge building. Shocking we had to pay £4 a day to use the swimming pool and gym after being told it was included. Over all a terribly disappointing stay.

Beyond Terrible

Posted 20-Jul-2014
Pros: Location, checking out and going home to take a bath in detol.
Cons: Pretty much everything? Facade looks good from the front.
Badly repaired ceilings, TV remote held together with tape, kettle containing evolving life forms that probably started out as a farm of limescale...an iron, but no ironing board, glass in lifts taped up with packing tape...premium pricing, and yet the quality of the place was less than a 50 quid travelodge. My guess is this place use to be spectacular - if it was, it certainly isn't any more. Run down and requiring a lot of investment to bring it back to average, never mind premium. Signs for the rooms are also pretty crappy - rooms x this way. Only it isn't this way, as there's a number of rooms in the middle of that range that are actually on a completely different floor. What's that about? Staff for the most part looked utterly defeated and fully aware of the environment they're working in? If I were out on a stag weekend with some mates looking for somewhere cheap to stay where I wasn't that bothered about the above things.....then this would have been OK. At 180 quid a night for me and my daughter to stay in - utterly and completely pathetically over-priced.

nice central location

Posted 12-Jul-2014
Pros: breakfast location
Cons: all staff need to know whats going on so staff training wouldnt go amiss. All front of house staff just answered with "dont know" to general questions.
Location: excellent for location for seafront and town
didnt get sea view but got an unexpected suite on ground floor, which was huge! breakfast excellent close to sea and town very quiet (no noise) considering the size and location bad houskeeping, apart from clean towels there was hardly any cleaning done and the bed was only half made with cushions still left on the floor

Pros: The location
Cons: A refurbishment the hotel looks tired
Location: Would recommend both West Beach and The Edge Restaurants
It was ok we were expecting something a bit grand but its just average. The hotel car park was full on the night we were there so we had to use the pay and display which is £12.50 for an overnight stay

Lovely break in Bournemouth.

Posted 16-Jun-2014
Pros: Friendly staff and cleanliness.
Cons: Cheaper swimming, cheaper car park.
Location: Lovely location. Lots to do just wandering around.
Friendly staff and clean room made our stay very nice. The room wasn't great as no view at all, stuffy and small but we did pay a lot less than normal stated price so I guess that's fair enough. The royal bath is just where you want to be in Bournemouth. The food was lovely. Car park is expensive, better to park up the road. Swimming is £4 and £1 towel hire, so for a family, you probably wouldn't bother. Internet wasn't working in room so staff had to put password in. But as I said, for the discounted price we paid, very happy with break and would recommend to friends.

Will not return!

Pros: The breakfast was quit good.
Cons: Staff training required and a total re-furb of the bedrooms is well overdue.
Stayed here 8 years ago and enjoyed very much. The hotel staff were very unhelpful and the condition of the rooms were dissapointing too.
