Shame

Nice building if a little tired, in a great location. The staff are unhelpful and uninterested and therefore the place is best avoided.

Great location and fantastic sea view.

Pros: The central situation, the spacious room, comfortable bed, good breakfast and lovely swimming pool.
Cons: the showers need changing for thermostatically controlled and some food, sandwiches at least, should be available until the bar closes.
Location: Very central for theatre, cinemas, shops, beach and pier. The Russell Cootes Museum is next door and well worth a look.
Centrally situated overlooking the beach and pier, you can walk to the theatre, cinemas, restaurants, shops, etc. yet quiet and with lovely garden. The room was very comfortable and clean and the bed and linen were excellent. This is a historic hotel, the first in Bournemouth, and so you cannot expect totally modern standards of decor. The shower should have been renewed and the maintenance staff were kept busy. Breakfast was a hot and cold buffet and offered a good start to the day. Light meals are available in the elegant bar and there is also a restaurant if you feel like splashing out, but you cannot get food after 9.30 p.m. The reception staff will order a takeaway for you if you ask. There is a small charge to residents for use of the pool, spa and gym but it is very good value. We were on a visit to see family and friends in the area as we come from there and can recommend it to anyone for a holiday. The hotel has great staff and a lovely atmosphere of a more elegant age.

Nice hotel - close to the beach

Posted 01-Apr-2014
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful. Loved Oscars. They made a fuss of me and mum with complimentary champagne and flowers. Made our day!
Cons: Our room was very hot and its only March. We couldn't open the windows so slept with the fan going. Perhaps the breakfast could be better...
Location: The beach... no need to say more!
I enjoyed our stay at the Royal Bath Hotel. It has that old charm that I really like. It was my birthday treat and was chosen because I wanted to use the pool and jacuzzi - chill out and relax. That's exactly what we did and then had a smashing Mothers Day meal at Oscar's on Sunday.

The hotel was close to the beach

Posted 30-Mar-2014
Even though the hotel was close to the beach we had to pay extra for secure parking which wasn't stated at the time of booking ! The bar shut at normal pub timings which a lot of the guests complained about , we had been to the theatre and wanted to enjoy a quiet drink back at our hotel and managed one drink before they closed the bar ! Very disappointing! There wasn't any heating in our room either although we had a plug in heater . The buffet breakfast was lovely and we found the staff helpful .

An Ok hotel ridiculous parking charges - £20 p/day

Posted 25-Mar-2014
Pros: The building and the gym.
Cons: The car parking charges are absolutely disgusting, I can't see how a hotel can have the cheek to charge £20 per day for parking!
Location: Couldn't really go out much but the location was nice.
I have spent over five weeks using hotels whilst here on tour. Out of all the hotels this one was one of the more disappointing. The hotel in general was ok, the building is beautiful but that's where the beauty stopped.

Very small room

Posted 23-Mar-2014
Pros: Good restaurant and leisure facilities
Cons: Detail rooms small and breakfast extra
Location: Centrally located for shops and beach and located next to a fantastic museum.
Arrived on Thursday first impression was room was very small. Sheet had mark on it and took over 30 minutes for staff to correct. Was awoken at 5 am due to deliveries arriving. We were located near goods inwards. Bed was unconfortable and very small. Decided to leave after 1 day when checked out, staff were unsure what to do and did not even ask why we were leaving early. Never again will stick with premier inns as you know what you are getting :(

Very nice hotel. With great sea views.

The hotel room was very good . Great views of the sea and coast line. Just a shame in the spa that the jacuzzi wasn't working! Also that not many treatments available because of staff shortage.

Definitely needs a facelift.

Posted 18-Mar-2014
Pros: The bed.
Cons: Everything. Also, we do not appreciate Expedia ambushing us with £20 car park charges that were not disclosed in advance.
Location: Bournemouth Pier. Walks on the beach.
This hotel is in desperate need of an overhaul. Trays are left in corridors all night/morning. The floors are the creakiest we have ever experienced. Rooms are in need of ventilation. Carpets look like they haven't been changed since Victorian times. The breakfast was like eating in the regimental mess. BUT - the bed we had was VERY comfortable.

Location of hotel was excellent

Posted 18-Mar-2014
Pros: Its location was excellent
Cons: It needs to be updated all the way through
Location: Right by the pier so really handy, bars and shops in walking distance
Was upgraded on arrival but found the room disappointing - ceiling was flaking above bed, there was a stain on the bed linen and the room was far too hot even with windows open - would not like to stay in the summer. Bar staff didn't seem to listen to what you wanted as asked for floating coffee, 1st person didn't know what it was but made them when explained same as liquor one but no alcohol and 2nd person said they knew what they were but made us normal coffees - another person behind the bar would be better as they wouldn't be so busy and could listen to what customers said before rushing off to do it.
