Old Hotel Popular with Young People

Posted 12-Oct-2014
Pros: Breakfast was good.
Cons: The hotel is a bit run down and needs updating.
Location: It is near to the sea front and the cliff railway down to the beach.
When we arrived at the front of the hotel we found the car park full. The receptionist told us there was a large car park at the back. This car park was full the next morning and it was difficult tt get out of some of the spaces. All the public spaces and our room were clean and reasonably furnished. Our room was too small for a double and was probably a single room with a small double bed. We had made a late booking and Bournemouth was very busy due to the Marathon. The bathroom was satisfactory but the bath was too high for us oldies to get out of safely. Dinner was spoilled as we only went in to the dining room a few minutes before 8 when they finished. The food had obviously been in the Bain Mari since dinner started at 6. We did not get to sleep until after 2 as every few minutes a noisy crowd of merry young people arrived.

reference number 192112671 on saturday the 20th of september 2014 i started my holiday at the heathlands hotel in bournemouth the outside of the hotel gave me a poor impression before i went into the hotel as it was in need of repainting if the outside of the hotel could be repainted it would give new vistiors like myslef and other vistors a better first impression i then checked in to the hotel this check in for me was fine after i left reception i walked to my room all the painted walls were all very dirty this gave me the impression that the management of britanna hotels could not care less how there hotels look to new vistiors to this hotel where i got into my room my facilities were very very poor and not acceptable all the walls were dirty the pipes under the sink in the bathroom were dirty and had on been cleaned for some time there was no socket in the bathroom for me to have a shave so i went to reception to ask if they had a shaver adaptor plug that i could use the one they had did not fit my shaver very well after the receptionist had said they would sort out a plug after more than one and a half hours later i had to walk into bournemouth centre to buy a new shaver adaptor plug so that i could have a shave that evening i then got in to the shower this was very hot so i tryed to put the cold on before only just putting on the hot tap but i could not get the temperature to a aceptable level so i could not have a shower that night or wash my hair i had

Good Location near beach & shops

Posted 28-Sep-2014
Pros: Receptionist was very helpful. Everything was tidy. No Complaints Staff liked Children.
Cons: Everything is low tech, but good value.
Location: Venicular Railway to the beach making it easy for the infirm. 10 minute walk to the to shops (fairly level ground)
As expected with this chain. Very cheap & cheerful. But you get value for money

Great hotel in Bournemouth

Posted 04-Sep-2014
Lovely hotel, we were a bit wary after reading other reviews but actually found this to be the best hotel in Bournemouth that we have stayed in. Our room 118 was extremely modern and clean. Hotel staff were friendly and the breakfast was delicious.

Nice hotel close to the beach and town centre.

Posted 01-Sep-2014
Pros: The location of the hotel is excellent for the beach and town centre.
Cons: The room at night was tropical. Asked for a fan on our 2nd night, which helped slightly.
We wanted a hotel which was close to the beach for the weekends Air Show. This hotel was ideally located and we were on the beach within 5-10 mins. We had a large family room, which consisted of a double and a single bed and a put up bed. The room was clean and the bathroom had a large double shower. The only downside was the room temperature at night. It was sweltering and no air. We had a roof below our window, so we didn't want to sleep with all the windows open. We asked for a fan the next evening, which they got for us and this helped (a little). Breakfast was buffet style and quite satisfactory. Would definitely recommend this hotel for a weekend break, due to its locality.

The facts about this hotels policy

Posted 19-Aug-2014 on Hotels.com
I didn't actually stay at this hotel because when I arrived they were full. I had booked earlier that day through the website and when I arrived the lady said they had been full all day. The hotels policy is to take bookings for the 5 hotels they have in Bournemouth until the capacity for all of them is reached. When people turn up they just direct you to their sister hotel down the road. The problem with this is that the hotels vary in facilities and the finish of the rooms. I have fallen for this once before with one of their other hotels and the one I got moved to had a smaller room without WIFI and the window opened onto a busy road whereas the one I’d booked looked nice in the pictures (I never saw it inside apart from the reception) and was on a quiet road and came with WIFI in the room. I think it's a poor policy to have but I haven’t complained because I think it would be pointless. As it's happened twice now (I didn't realise the second time that the hotel I’d booked was part of this chain) and both receptionists have explained that it is company policy I think it would be pointless complaining to then and would only serve to waste my time. It's obviously been thought about and approved by the management although I don't approve of it at all. The hotels that are part of this chain are.... Heathlands hotel, Britannia Hotel, Roundhouse Hotel, Carrington Hotel and the Royal Bath Hotel. I think the group is called the Britannia Group

Good location but seriously in need of some tlc

Posted 11-Aug-2014 on Hotels.com
I checked the reviews beforehand and they were awful but the only hotel with available rooms so had to go with it. Was prepared for the worst but it wasn't as awful as we thought and for two nights stay was adequate. Breakfast okay and we didn't really need much from the staff but the little contact we had was fine.
