“Impressive Hotel & Excellent Location”
We really enjoyed our stay at the Carrington House Hotel. The hotel is set in an excellent location, is well furnished with spacious rooms and good facilities. Also the staff are well trained and most polite and helpful. Their restaurant facilities are most comprehensive and they can easily deal witha hotel full of hungry customers, (as we viewed during our stay, when they catered for a 'Soul Weekend' party, which we were not part of) They deal with banquets, meetings, weddings, etc, but not Hen Party's or Stag Do's; this is not part of their brief as they also have a lot of older clients visiting the hotel. All in all they are an excellent choice of hotel and we hope to return to the Carrington early next spring
“wish we stayed at home-filthy rooms”
We booked this hotel hoping to enjoy a quiet stay leaving our twins at home to enjoy their 18th birthday party. When we arrived it was clear it was not going to be a pleasant stay. There were 2 functions on that weekend that we were unaware off, including a soul weekend. We were shown to our room and we were horrified! Half the tiles were missing from the bathroom, the plug holes filthy, the carpet was ripped and smelly, water stains over the light, cobwebs galore but the worst was the beds. The material was ripped and covered in stains of what I dread to think. We were hoping to eat at the hotel but because of the functions there was no bar menu and what they were offering at the restaurant was nothing like the menu I had asked the hotel to email to me earlier in the week. I had mentioned when we were staying, it would have been nice if they had informed me that there were functions on hence a limited menu. We didnt think things could get much worse but it did. We had an early morning wake up call even though we had not asked for one followed by someone letting themselves into our room whilst I was getting dressed! When I mentioned this to reception it was"oh yeh sorry that was the porter -we thought you room was empty cos our system is up playing up!" Do you know what the best thing about our trip was-it was for only one night and we never have to go there again-
“Mixed Impressions”
I Ordered Room service for my partner and myself around 1810, which we ordered, salmon, soup, chicken burger and gammon and chips and two drinks. this was quite simply a farce, i then rang up reception at 1900 to chase up the order which had not arrived, and the receptionist said said she will get back to me, after 15 minutes she then got back in contact with myself, to tell me that the gammon was not available, I was alarmed at the time it took for myself to get this news, i then reordered the fish and chips and immediately went down to speak to the manager, who apologised and chased up my order with the porters, who said it already had been despatched to my room, and then offered the food to us for free, i agreed. so i went back up to my room to find the porter dropping the food off, and asking for us to sign for the food, which was what i had ordered originally without the drinks, the porter had no pen which just compounded the misery. the food itself was cold as if it had been made ready for a while and left to the side, which would explain why it was despatched so soon after my food had been "reordered". I didn't complain because i thought the whole meal was free, but then when i was checking out i had to pay for the food apart from my main meal, i would have complained but could not prove the state of the food. this is shortened version of my review as i have more to complain about!
“Double Bed?,More Like a Single.”
This hotel on first sight looks lovely, The staff were helpful and the general feel of the hotel was welcoming. The bedroom was its down fall! The room was dated with a bathroom that was full of mildew and a toilet flush that was very tempremental and loose, the shower was fine if you had one at off peak, however, if you wanted one at the same time as the rest of the hotel prepare to be scoulded or frozen! The room was advertised as a double?? The bed itself looked to be more of a queen bed, fine for one, but not for two. The matress was uncomfortable and hard and thin, with two sheets and no duvet! The sheets led to a very cold and with the bed an uncomfortable night, with little sleep had by either of us!! The pool has been nicknamed by my partner as "legionaires lagoon" the tiles and surrounds were filthy and the water salty not very chlorinated! We have stayed at two other hotels this week and found this to be the worse for sleeping and comfort! All I can say is that for the money we paid we had expected much more and will not revisit this hotel again!
“Reliable hotel in Bournemouth”
Just had our second stay in the Carrington. Spacious room and pretty clean etc. The Hotel is looking in need of an internal refresh but is clearly a busy place. Breakfast is a good bonus and the pool adds a bit of a treat to a short stay.
“great hotel for families”
the hotel is a little 'dog eared and tired' but the standard of service, food and cleanliness of rooms is high. our only problem is with the bed comfort (lack of) - must be worst we have tried to sleep on and when you are grandparents taking two boys aged 7 and 4 on holiday you need a good nights' sleep! other than that we can thoroughly recommend the hotel.
“OK for a weekend, not for a holiday”
Hotel suited us for a long weekend. Went with son, daughter-in-law and baby aged 2+. Not ideal for children as locks on doors were child height, and doors were old and scratched. Child could have easily bolted herself in the bathroom! The pool was OK but there were no towels - as we had seen a pile of dirty ones outside we thought there would have been some available. Bar food not up to scratch - beef and ale pie was mostly mushrooms. Chicken Tikka was heated from frozen, but edible. The dining room looked nice, but we did not eat there due to baby needing food at 5pm. Breakfast was excellent though. Chairs in lounge very uncomfortable, saggy settees and easy chairs, other more upright but needed refurbishment.
“Disappointed but was OK with Location very handy to Bournemouth”
Hotel did not live up to Website review. Was in need of updating. Surprised there were no fridges in room. Meals in Main Restaurant very limited but meals from Bar area quite nice. Breakfast was very nice enjoyed them each morning. Swimming Pool was so cold could not stay in for more than 10 mins which was a shame as it would have been nice area to relax. Staff a bit slow and sometimes unhelpful but there was the odd one or two who where good. It was in good location and close proximity to the town centre.
“Nice Hotel”
We've just returned ( 2Ad + 2Ch) from 4 nights in a family room here, and really enjoyed our stay. The room was spacious and clean, and serviced every day. The main plus points are: Great friendly staff- Brilliant Buffet breakfast-Good but peaceful location ( except seagulls, lol! ) -Nice indoor pool & any small problems quickly attended to. To be honest, the only minus points we found were- Rubbish 'low flow shower head- Two worn/soft single divans pushed together to form double. So to summarise, this Hotel which is only a 10 min walk to East Cliff zigzag is ideal for a relaxed stay and we would definitely return!
“It's OK”
In a quiet street near the centre the hotel is passable without being special. Our room was quite spacious and well appointed but quite a trek from the lift up and down short stairs between different sections of the hotel. The public areas were a bit gloomy, the pool though advertised as opening at 7am did not open until after 10. The breakfast was good and plentiful though could have done with more fresh fruit.
